disneyfan90 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I know this is a very trivial situation, but I'm curious as to what people would do here. I'm in I guess what they call a "poke war" with one of my close friends. This has been going on for weeks now. One day right after I "poked" my friend back, I accidentally poked another one of my facebook friends--and that's because she was the very first person on my "poke suggestions" list. I was using my phone, so I guess that makes it easier for accidents such as these to occur. This was a friend that I hadn't spoken to in over 10 years. In fact, I forgot that I was even friends with her on facebook. We went to middle school together, and she was a popular and friendly girl at that time. Once again, I know this is extremely trivial. After all, it's just a facebook poke. But I can't help but feel just a tiny a bit embarrassed lol. Would you take this opportunity to send her a nice message, telling her that it was a mistake? Or would you just ignore it and pretend that nothing ever happened?
Raena Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Don't apologize! Just leave it alone. Who knows, she may respond and it could start a new and improved friendship with her or she may just ignore it.
privategal Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 A message would make it awkward. Furthermore why have friendships on FB with someone you havent spoken with in 10 years?
whichwayisup Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Isn't a poke like saying 'hey'? Don't worry about it, and definitely don't send a note apologizing.
Ferret Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 This is why I only have about 25 people on my FB..and even now I need to clean it down I never keep people I wouldn't intend on having a conversation with at any given time..my advice clean your FB down a bit to people who you wouldn't feel akward accidentally "poking"..lol 1
jen1447 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I'd say "hey sorry that was an error poke. Hope you're doing well" or sth like that, just so she doesn't think "oh god he's trying to hit on me" or "oh god this is finally my shot" depending on the circumstances. Was it really a mistake?
JustGettingBy Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 No need to pursuit it. It's mild enough that she'll probably look at it, shrug, and forget it within 24 hours. 1
