ExpatInItaly Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 But I do lol. I'll go to respond and then say, "oh crap I forgot to send this email" *goes and writes email* do something else realize I forgot to respond, "oh it's time to walk the dog" and the cycle continues. It's not just him that I'm this way with either. I'm like this with family and friends as well. Then you need to work on that. You can see it's having a negative effect; a lot of people simply won't have the patience for it.

Very few people are going to deal well with being forgotten for days on end. 2

Make a 'Contact List', because I'm horrible with responding back with my loved ones as well. Though he's taking longer than usual he keeps replying so I guess that's a good sign?

Author jebrooks1988 Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Has he set up another date? Well we're in the process of doing that now. I reached out, apologized and explained and this time he replied within minutes and asked about seeing each other this weekend

You have learned an important lesson here! 1
Author jebrooks1988 Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Good! Now, be more diligent about replying to him. You have learned an important lesson here! Thank you! Just some final questions. Given my behavior I can't expect for him to stop being cautious/withdrawn right away can I? It's going to take me showing consistency isn't it?
preraph Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 He may have a big chip on his shoulder and his ego won't take it. To me, not responding back to chit-chat texts is fine, because they shouldn't require a real response. But if he asked you out or something in one and you failed to respond, that would be your bad. I'd look at his schedule and your schedule and ask if the disparity it too great for it to work anyway. After all, if he's got too much time on his hands and nothing better to do than text a lot and you have very little time on your hands trying to improve yourself, that may say something about him maybe not being ambitious enough.

Well he had made a joke about seeing me, it wasn't explicitly stated in both texts and I didn't respond :/. Our schedules are fine. These last few weeks I was just busy with personal issues, before that things were fine. Now I'm starting to worry if he's doing the infamous "fade out"...
