Yep you're right. Relationships are an emotional sink. I literally felt like wasting my time when I first started dating. See - you can get over this. The soppy stories are self-created, people set themselves for them because they enjoy that state of mind.

If it helps, try to see the objective benefit of dating: e.g. developing interpersonal skills, or having an activity partner. That will help you getting on board.

One little caveat I feel the need to put in there is that despite people being so hellbent on relationships and love, I also see people losing their minds over it as well, obsessing, crying, and sometimes resorting to some questionable things because of it. I just don't want to put myself through anything like that. It seems so needless. I find it might be better, since I'm currently not introduced to it and therefore not addicted to it, to just continue to abstain from it.

To sprigan2, I will never grow a ****ing beard. I think they make a guy look like a pussy. I hate them. You see these stupid metro looking guys nowadays with perfectly groomed hair, shaggy (but groomed) beards, tight designer plaid shirts, and trending skinny jeans. I'll never go for that stupid, gay, hipster look every guy is going for now. Women's clothing is more masculine than men's now. That's just my observation. I'll never adopt that style no matter how much girls these days like it.

By no means are you required to get a beard if it's not your style. I was just throwing some ideas out there. I think any fashion trend can fall flat if it's being done to death, but I personally find facial hair appealing if done right, and definitely masculine. Beard, stubble, stache, gives you an alternative route if you aren't blessed with the perfect jawline. I do skip the plaid and skinny jeans though.

I hate the hipsyerlook myself, but found that a bit of stubble makes me look a lot different (and better)

No harm trying things.

OP, relationships aren't the be all and end all of existence.

Sure they can be nice, and they can provide intense emotion, but this can go both ways.

Im personally taking a break from traditional relationships, I might not go back. I too value my own space and time too much. On a purely cost benefits analysis, I don't feel they are worth it.

I reserve the right to change my mind on this though :)

If you like being single then that's a great thing! Why change that for the sake of it? I'm guessing it's more out of curiosity than anything else which, again, is great.

I'm like you in the sense that I like my own space and I like being alone a lot of the time. Relationships and love aren't everything in this life despite what many people will tell you. There's a lot of stress and heartbreak involved and I'm not really sure any of it is worth it to be honest.

Embrace being single, I think it's a refreshing attitude to have. Why should people like you conform to society?

You know Doop, now that Leonard Nimoy is dead, the world needs a new Spock. Maybe it is you? Also, women really go for the introspective, intelligent, logical type. Just a suggestion...;)

No offense to bearded dudes. Just not my thang. Some guys don't do that trendy look I was talking about. Some guys pull it off well. But many guys nowadays with their beards just look douchey as hell to me. Besides, My facial hair is like peach fuzz. I have strawberry blonde hair and when my facial hari grows out, it literally looks like dirt on my face.
