TX-SC Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I don't have a lot of deal breakers. Here are the few that I do have: 1) I would not date a smoker. That smell gets into EVERYTHING. I did it once. Never again. 2) Someone who actively does drugs, even pot. Just not my thing. 3) An alcoholic, or someone who feels the need to go out and drink every weekend. 4) This is the most controversial, but oh well... I won't have a LTR with someone who did a lot of crazy sexual things in the past. Gangbangs, orgies, gloryholes, cam shows, very high numbers all are turnoffs to me. People are free to do as they wish sexually. Doesn't mean I have to date them. 5) Someone who is horrible with money or won't work. That's about it for me. 1
MrDuck Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 I've done things in the past I'm not so proud of, probably something's that would put me on some peoples deal breaker list! Who am I to judge someone else for their mistakes. I believe it's like they say: Your value doesn't decrease based on someone else inability to see your worth! Dealbreakers: Child or animal abuseNot liking kids or animalsSomeone who is unkind, deep down when you strip everything back, an unkind person.Someone with alcohol issues cause I've seen what that does and im not the man who can deal with thatThey don't love me for who I am
wmacbride Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 A could never marry a moral relativist who constantly change their morals to suit themselves, and has one set of them for them and another for everyone else. Someone who cheated? Sure they may have changed, but why take that risk if it's a new relationship and I don;t have to. I don't think I could ever be happy with someone who loves living in the city. i like to visit, but will never feel at home there. I'm more of a back country type person, and my dream vacation has nothing to to with the city. I;m more the backwoods on a tropical island or on a beach, but no resorts please...and no Disney. Can't stand Disney. I could also never marry someone who does it for dishonest reasons, like getting a tax break, residence in a country, etc. I also couldn't marry a type A personalty. While I greatly admire those types, I just don't think i could ever be happy with one for the long term, and I don't think they'd be happy with me. one last thing. I couldn't marry someone who considers themselves to be well educated and cultured, to the point that they feel their views are superior to everyone else's, and anyone who doens;t agree is somehow lowbrow. I am well educated, but I don't need someone insisting to me that I should appreciate art, a particular food, wine or anything else. Sure, I would be happy to share ideas with them, and maybe they can point some things out I don't know, but to insist that I have to like something simply because it's in and trendy makes no sense to me. Give me my glass of well made ginger or root beer over the most expensive bottle of wine any day. 1

txgrl Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) I think that we can all have our lists of dealbreakers and 'types' and as Mr. JA posted on my thread , life will bring someone .. Right there .. In front of you .. All our lists will be out of the window . Life has a way of doing just that . I think , besides overt crazies and murderers .. Military men scare me . And men who love crocs . Edited March 6, 2016 by txgrl

Lady2163 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Good question. If I ever get married again, I'd like to think I choose so much better. The first time I married someone I knew beforehand that we were not compatible. I was young and had the naive belief that we could come to some common, tolerable ground. I had some fight in me. Now, today, I wouldn't think of marrying someone if there was adversity involved. Life is not supposed to be hard. I don't want to spend the last 30 years (hopefully) of my life having that daily struggle. Again, we're talking marriage. It doesn't mean I'm not willing to work with, be friends with, pull the people from a burning car on this list, I'm just not going to marry them. Disabled Different race or religion. Addicts or recovering addicts Someone with money problems/spending problems Drama llamas Someone who expects me to move more than three hours from my comfort zone A slob Someone with high maintenance children Someone with high maintenance family Someone who expects me to eventually take care of their ailing parent (if it came to that) I'm disappointed Coco and I can't get married. My car cost more than $10,000. And it is an SUV. I did a 540 in my previous car and wanted four wheel drive.

The only other change I'd make is left-wing OR right-wing nut job as I'm Independent and despise both parties. Otherwise, I can definitely understand where you're coming from.
