sadh Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 my girlfriend broke up with me yesterday with this text. I love you, but I can't be together anymore and it's not anything you've done, I just don't want a relationship right now. There's a lot going on in my life that I need to work past before I'm ready to be with anyone and I'm truly sorry. I still really want to be friends I really don't want to be without you in my life, I just can't give you what you want right now. I understand if you don't want to talk to me anymore though. I know she has been having family issues for awhile and hasn't been single for long in years. I just want to know if it looks like I have any chance to get back with her or if she's done with me. (lost attraction). what should I do in either case? thank you
carotini Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 A breakup via text is really tacky and cowardly (imo). Just had to get that out there. It’s impossible for an outsider to get inside her head or to predict the future of a relationship. To me it sounds like she no longer wants a relationship with you and is trying to soften it and make excuses (I love you, it’s not you-it’s me, we can be friends, blah blah blah). Also sounds like you’re making excuses for her (family issues). I think you should text her back: “I’m not looking for more friends. Have a nice rest of your life”. Then take a little time to get over her, do something nice for yourself, spend time with people who care about you, and move on. Best wishes. 1

(lost attraction). what should I do in either case? thank youIt means this: I am tired of being with you, so we can't be together anymore and it's not anything you've done, I just don't want a relationship with you right now or ever in the future. Here's the only thing I can imagine telling you, although it's not really the truth: There's a lot going on in my life that I need to work past before I'm ready to be with anyone. The truth is that you'll find I'm with someone real soon and I'm truly sorry but that's the way it is. I still really want to be friends, well, at least I won't mind because I don't care for you that way anymore. I really don't care if I'm without you in my life, I just don't want you to hate me and I can't give you what you want right now, or really, ever again. I understand if you don't want to talk to me anymore though, and that would make things a lot less awkward. I didn't have the guts to tell you this to your face, and I didn't want to see you beg or cry. That's why I sent a text. 6
Brando Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Cowards way out....she has something going on you don't know about. New interest, someone else or she just isn't that into you anymore. That's a disrespectful way to end it. "I'll pass on the friendship...good luck...bye!!" 1
Frank13 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 It means this: I am tired of being with you, so we can't be together anymore... How did you get in my mind and type word for word what I was going to say?
Hoosfoos Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 She is cheating on you or is about to be intimate with someone else, and wants a clean break before doing so.

Dude, you got the generic "there's someone else in the picture" break up message from her. Guarantee in a few weeks she'll be with a new guy. Just let her go...it's done. 2

Standard break up stuff and so cannot really be dissected out to mean anything specific. She doesn't want to be your gf any more is the gist, and she is basically over you too, else she would never have mentioned being your friend. She is now ready to move on, so no real point in trying to get her back. She may or may not have someone else in the picture, but be rest assured she will be moving on from you. Sorry! 1
