Popsicle Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I see commercials on TV for Ourtime.com all the time now. It's a dating website for people 50+. I am not old enough (45) to get on there, but has anyone been on there and have any experiences? I am most curious about it...
lilmissjava Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I would totally date that guy in that commercial who got his first flirt in about 10 minutes of being on the site. 3
Author Popsicle Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 I would totally date that guy in that commercial who got his first flirt in about 10 minutes of being on the site. I am not familiar. I am on the west coast and they may show different commercials.
Author Popsicle Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 I am not familiar. I am on the west coast and they may show different commercials. Now that I think about it, I have never really seen a man in any of the commercials. They mostly focus on and show cute older women. It would make sense that they have different commercials for the different coasts since the west coast is known to have more single males than single females, and the east coast is known to have more single females than single males.
carhill Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Match is by far the most widely recognized and older folks, if online, would tend to use what's recognizable and Match and eHarmony advertise on television so my bet is that's where the biggest numbers would be. TBH, I haven't bothered because I generally get under 50 results in the local (20 mile diameter) area for ages 18-99 on Match. More targeted sites, especially for my age group, 55-up, would be a waste of time. Out of curiosity, not having looked at OurTime before, I plugged in the zip code of my second residence and got 24 results from age 50-65 and in what appears to be ten or so mile diameter based on neighboring zip codes. That's comparable to Match in the area and far better than any results where I am now, those usually under 5. 2
Gaeta Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Last year, at 49, I decided to check it out. It was full of people between 45 and 55. Some 30 something too. You have people on there looking for people their own age but also lots of younger men looking for more mature ladies. 4

I am most certain you can find the commercials online say YouTube maybe. I am in southern Ontario, the most densely populated area of the great white north, options for everyone I guess lol. 1
Majormisstep Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Popsicle, I was on Ourtime a couple of years ago. One of my first matches was with a great guy - good looking, chatty, honest, gosh...an overall great match...but he was ready to settle down and I was fresh out of a M, so really mucked up and still reeling. Anyway, he sensed that and set me free. If timing was only a bit different... Been on Match too and that seems to be the more popular of the two. 1
Shanex Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Match is indeed more 'mature'. Haven't heard of the site you mention, pop. However I met or heard of people over 50 using Tinder all the time and getting dates and being tinder success stories. Of course the older folks are frowned upon by the Youngs in the way 'what the f*** are you even doing on this site'? Even me in my 30s. Dating is not only for young people. At any age you can be a celibate and looking. 1

CarrieT Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Ummmm.... Ourtime (formerly called SeniorPeopleMeet.com), OKCupid, Tinder, Plenty-of-Fish, Match and Chemistry are all owned by the same company: IAC* This means that if Ourtime is anything like Match, you'll want to pay careful attention to the subscription details. Many readers have complained that their Match membership renewed despite their attempts to cancel. Just say'n. *InterActiveCorp - an American media and Internet company, with over 150 brands across 100 countries including The Daily Beast, Vimeo, Ask.com, etc... 2
loveflower Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 U sure all owned by the same company? MATCH Is Microsoft. ..

Many readers have complained that their Match membership renewed despite their attempts to cancel. I got stuck with the auto renew with match once. I forgot to cancel in time. I called them up and nicely asked them to refund it. I told them I had met the love of my life on their site, and was so busy planning the wedding that I forgot to cancel. I spiced it up further by telling them my best friend met her guy there, and we were having a double wedding in Hawaii. They refunded my money.
loveflower Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 It is disgusting tinder force you to use Facebook to use it....so scary. ..no privacy at all. I gave up using this app. Resigned to being alone ....most likely forever

loveflower Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Right. ..iac bought up all the competition. ...i hate monopoly.
MidwestUSA Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Oh man, I just found a 60 year old near me who raises cattle and trains Border Collies - on Farmersonly.com. I shouldn't have looked. 1

In case you need a partner to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse, wants someone who sports a mullet, gets excited by the smell of grease paint and dressing up like a clown, has a fetish for diapers, or are into Furries.... And my personal favorite, if you have a hankering for a Sea Captain! 2

Maybe i should try to get a job in the USA. At least better weather than this tundra called canada. I have had enough. I had some chances. I was too dumb and chicken.

And my personal favorite, if you have a hankering for a Sea Captain! Where were these sites when I was dating?! Are they part of the IAC monopoly? Well, I have that fear of clowns, whatever the name of that phobia is. Nix that one. I change plenty of diapers at work, no desire to indulge anyone else with it. I'd probably get seasick on anything bigger than the Mississippi River, I'm curious about the Furrymates. Is it for hairy people? Animal lovers? People who like to dress up as animals? Loveflower, have you checked these out? 1
CarrieT Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I'm curious about the Furrymates. Is it for hairy people? Animal lovers? People who like to dress up as animals? The last one... :p:p 2
loveflower Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Loveflower, have you checked these out? NO. I have no patient and faith. I had only used pof for a while. only checked out match and tinder a couple times. Guys look like aliens to me in those sites. Looks I have better chance in real life than online. I gave up. No man, no 'cries'. The problem I feel lonely all the time though.

At the end of the ad, it stipulates that you must be 18 years or older to join. I doubt there is a true age restriction. If I was dating again I would join cougars.com lol. 1
