marklewis7887 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Alot of my buddies say they would never cook for their girlfriend or wife because its to girly and makes them look pathetic Are they the ones who are pathetic? They will grill out but as far as making spaghetti or anything like that they refuse to i mean they are wrong right?
mikeylo Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Alot of my buddies say they would never cook for their girlfriend or wife because its to girly and makes them look pathetic Are they the ones who are pathetic? They will grill out but as far as making spaghetti or anything like that they refuse to i mean they are wrong right? I'm married for good 20 years and cook over the weekend for my wife and my boy. I'm still a man ,lol. Remember the golden : its the little things that your girl likes that matters. Not what others like. Maybe your girl wouldnt take it as a big deal if you cook for her. Maybe she likes if you give her a foot rub the day she is very tired ! 5
jen1447 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Wrong. My BF cooks for me all the time and he's not "pathetic." This sort of thing is usually more about the insecurity of the person making the claim than anything else. 'Real men' aren't afraid to cook, even in the kitchen. 11
TheBathWater Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Alot of my buddies say they would never cook for their girlfriend or wife because its to girly and makes them look pathetic Are they the ones who are pathetic? They will grill out but as far as making spaghetti or anything like that they refuse to i mean they are wrong right? They are definitely wrong. I love to cook for women and this has never had any repercussions. I should mention that women cook for me in return, or we cook together. I would never do all of the cooking if we lived together. That would make me feel pathetic.
d0nnivain Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Tell them to count the number of celebrity male chefs. 12
mammasita Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 What d0nnivain said....have they turned a TV on lately? WTF. 1
GorillaTheater Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Alot of my buddies say they would never cook for their girlfriend or wife because its to girly and makes them look pathetic Do any of these buddies of yours actually have girlfriends or wives? 11
katiegrl Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Some of the best and most successful chefs in the world are men! My ex did most of the cooking! He was much better at it than I, plus he loved it. And he is a 6'3" 240 pound, very masculine biker dude! Tell your buddies to turn on the Food Network channel. Who do your buddies think cook and and manage the kitchens at most restaurants? And their sous chefs (who are also men)? Men! Ignorant comment. 1
Shining One Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm not big on gender roles and this one is no exception. I'm a better cook than most of the women I've dated, so I handle the cooking in most of my relationships. I've never been judged negatively for this.
Wewon Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I love cooking. I think its fun. I also like dictating what I eat and how its prepared. Your friends sound odd, are they all over 60? This sounds almost generational more than it being a 'guy' thing.
jen1447 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 They are definitely wrong. I love to cook for women and this has never had any repercussions. lana-banana Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Um, what? It's been cool for American men to rule the kitchen as far back as the 70s (thanks, Bert Greene!). I would be mortified by any man who wasn't self-sufficient enough to cook at least a few basic meals for himself. My boyfriend is one of the most fantastic chefs I know and I wouldn't trade him for the world. Everyone knows restaurants are overpriced and terrible on Valentine's Day, I'm happy to have a man who will cook me sous vide lobster and venison! 2
Miss Peach Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Another vote that a man cooking for a woman doesn't make him less manly. 2
todreaminblue Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 i think every body should know how to cook, man, woman, boy or girl...at least be able to make a meal for themselves if nuclear war were to happen and they were the only ones left at least they wouldnt starve or have to eat rice crackers forever with a can of baked beans......and no its not less manly to know how to prepare a meal and cook it and serve it......its sefl sufficiency and thats....sexy...like bear grills sexy..deb 3
Gaeta Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 How old are you?? There is nothing sexier than a man in a kitchen !! Last summer this man I was dating came to my home to cook me dinner. Steak aux poivres Grattin Dauphinois And a Soufflé for dessert ! I could not believe a souffé was coming out of MY oven!! I will never forget it! 4
Popsicle Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 It's a fantasy of mine to have a man who loves to cook! I usually cook, because I like cooking, but boy, would it be nice if I had a guy who liked cooking. It's sexy. 2
trippi1432 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm with the other ladies here, a man who can cook is sexy. I like to cook as well and get some of my best recipes from male chefs or even from men I have dated that do cook. Last night I was treated to Tortellini Alfredo by a man who could put my Alfredo to shame. "delizioso" Even my, almost 70, father is a great cook (well, we joke about his gut-wrenching spaghetti, but still a great cook). Even with that generational gap, and the fact he still has never done his own laundry, at least he will never starve. That's not to say that grilling out is only masculine either.
Redhead14 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Men who have attitudes like your buddies need to learn how to cook because they will need those skills when they find themselves single. This attitude is a symptom of a bigger attitude problem. Edited February 16, 2016 by a LoveShack.org Moderator Edited.... ~ V 6
AMJ Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Knowing how to cook is a life skill that makes a person seem responsible and mature, at the least. Both women and men who don't know how to cook annoy the hell out of me. It's such an indicator of privilege, as though there will always be someone waiting around to cook for you since you never bothered to learn how. OP your friends sound immature. And if they expect women to cook for them all the time, they're going to be disappointed because 1-so many young women nowadays cannot cook to save their life, and 2-"a woman's place is the kitchen"- type thinking is misogynistic and outdated. 5
thefooloftheyear Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I'm one of those types of guys that can fix, build, or create just about anything...I mean anything... Except that outside of maybe a hamburger, I have absolutely no culinary skills...It's embarrassing, really... I wish I could cook...I can feed myself, but just basic no effort stuff..I doubt I'd learn it at this point, though....You never know...My dear Italian momma is awesome,,,,She can make chicken salad out of chicken shyt, but me? Nope... TFY 1

WaitingForBardot Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I've been the principal cook in our household since we married almost 30 years ago and the only cook since I retired almost 10 years ago. Call me pathetic if it helps you/your friends sleep better at night. No skin off my nose... 1
blackcat777 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My boyfriend has to handle all the raw meat 'cause I get scared 1
FadedSign52 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 One of the questions I've gotten several times when dating is whether I cook. No self-respecting modern woman want to enter into a relationship where she is automatically expected to do ALL the cooking and why should she? Anyone can follow simple instructions its really not that difficult. 1
Woggle Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I cook for my wife all the time and pardon me for bragging but I am quite a good cook. It is dumb to say which gender can and can't do what. 4
