I just dated a few bad people so it makes me really cynical" -- Cynical-ness, is very insidious. It's like roots from a tree, it affects other attitudes and aspects and views about life. It's a limiting 'emotion'. It causes myopia of emotion and attitude. It creates an invisible box.

Think outside the box. Try as many new things you possibly can. Join a bowling league, a pottery class, a dance class, anything new and social. You are still so young, vibrant and intelligent. Use those things to their fullest. You may feel limited right now, but be patient and open-minded.

I live in one of the most expensive regions in the US. I ALWAYS had roommates in my 20's and they weren't my friends that I got a place with.... I looked online and found rooms to rent. Surely this happens other places - that people rent rooms right?

And I took a full time job right out of college NOT in my choosen field.

Staying at home with the folks wasn't an option (parents weren't down for supporting me), so, I packed my bags, used my saved $1,000 and picked up and moved 500 miles away.

Sure, for quite a while I didn't have money for movies, or other entertainment like that. More like top ramen ans weekend bike rides for fun. I had to pinch my pennies.

Eventually I got a better job. More money. I leased my own place - and put up online ads to rent MY extra room.

My point being, it can be done. It's scary, and takes a bit of risk, but if you have a room at your folks to run back to, sounds like you wont end up on the streets.

And in my experience it's MUCH easier to find a relationship, and a "good man" when you have your **** together.

OP, I would start exploring options. See how much a ROOM is in the cities you are interested it. See what other employment might "get you through" while you look for that dream job.
