Iowa2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hi everyone, This is so embarassing for me to ask, but it is driving me crazy. I am 17-and not sexually active- so I have not been to the gyno yet. My question is it ok for the outer labia/lips to be uneven? One side hangs down about 1/2 inch more than the other. It is not swollen it is flabby/floppy. It does not bother me and it is not painful. It has been like that as long as I can remember. I read that it was ok if the inner labia was uneven but nothing about the outer. So is anyones like this or does anyone know if it is ok to be that way? thanks a bunch! Iowa2005
tiki Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Seems like I've heard of it, but who knows. Go to a doc to get it checked. You could also google some info on uneven Labia Majora. I'm afraid to.
faux Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I do not think that most people are symmetrical, whether it be eyes, ears, hands, feet, or lips of any sort. If this concerns you, it might help to ask your gynecologist. I think that what you describe may be normal; people tend not to be perfectly symmetrical.
curiousnycgirl Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 It is totally normal - and no need to feel embarrassed (although I totally understand why you would be). Absolutely no reason to be concerned. However you should think about going to the gyno at some point, fairly soon - you need to manage your "female" healthcare just as much as your other healthcare (internist, denist, etc). It is not just for the sexually active and is a very important thing for women to do.
