Jesse101 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I have the chance to be promoted at my work. I am more than willing to take it up and build off of it. It will look great on future apps because iv only been at the job for 5 months. My girlfriend of 2 months works there as well and she is one position ahead of what the promotion is. The problem is that we really don't see eachother a whole lot due to her schedule. We hang out after work but that's only for a few hours. We only have one full day that we have together out of the whole week. I'm concerned because I will be working on the only day off she has.. Meaning I won't be able to see her. Only at work and after If there's time. She says she feels that it would make things hard for us but she's willing to work passed it if that's what I want to do. I don't want to be selfish here and take the position and make her think her opinion didn't matter to me. But I really want this position and I know I'm capable of doing it. The question I have is how could this effect our relationship? Does anyone have experience with this scenario?
VeveCakes Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Sounds normal for working people. I only see my BF in the evenings and some weekends. Make do with what you have. I see no problem, and a career move up is usually a solid choice.
Nilfiry Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Putting your career first is the right thing. So you see each other a little less, but that is hardly a big deal unless the two of you are extra clingy. You can always take PTO to do things together, and in the future, your schedules may not necessarily be the same.
