The Poster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Social Media is nothing more than a highlight package. People aren't on there making posts about their mistakes and bad days. They're not posting pictures of themselves dressed down and disheveled watching tv and eating junk food. Which are all things we experience on a regular basis. You're only seeing the elegant moments. And even then, who knows if that truly shows how a person is feeling. Like Michelle said, it's all smoke and mirrors. I've had miserable times in my life where if you checked my posts, I would have seemed happy and content. Edited February 2, 2016 by The Poster
Author mm55 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 rarely do people post angry, sad, or negative photos of themselves. It is generally a platform for positive photos and people tend to post quotes or comments for anything negative. I think it is people in general and not just females. I'm talking about post break up or getting feelings hurt. During that time frame the happy posts and acting different seems to sky rocket for a bit and then eventually goes back to normal

People tend to use the platform of social media to convince others that their lives are wonderful. No better person to convince than a recent ex.
basil67 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Have you heard if the idea "fake it till you make it?" It's a way of pulling yourself out of where you are and toward where you want to be. No reason they can't be doing this.

No better person to convince than a recent ex. yeah, with one of the girls it was weird though, she blocked him on every social media platform possible lol, she realllyyy didnt take it well. but shes still doing it even though he cant see it. And no I highly doubt shes actually happy, since he nded it with her and said some pretty nasty things to her and shes the one who went blocking and deleting him on anything, so maybe its for the validation, ego boost, and a way to vent, express herself, and feel better. DarkHorizon Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 People will do whatever they need to do in order to feel better. That's what the ego does; it protects itself from pain - in any way it feels appropriate. The "fake it until you make it" rationale completely applies here. 1
