this guy cheated on both me and his girlfriend (unaware). He slept with me for 3 months and he dated her for a year. The truth finally unfolded but he keeps telling her he loves her and can't live without her and will wait for her. He's kept their relationship a secret from everyone. Is this love? I do not believe its love. But can you possibly claim to "love" someone and be able to have a relation with another girl that involved feelings as well? his hearts in two places, i don't understand how "love" can still come out of that mouth

The only thing he can claim to be is an A-hole...yes, an A-hole. To some people, the word love is just that...a word, without meaning. I've had it said to me and it meant nothing to the woman saying it. He's a lowlife and if you entertain lowlifes you'll just end up wasting a lot of time and energy. Best of luck!

Instead of asking about this guy's motivation, you should ask yourself why you are entertaining such a scenario instead of running for the hills.

Many people don't know the difference between:

Being attached

Needing

Wanting

Loving

Those are not different names for the same thing, but many people think they are.

Spend some time contemplating the differences between loving, wanting, and needing.

Its important to understand those differences.

Those three things are related, but they're not the same thing.

Reflect on that.

It will help you to understand yourself (and others) better.

This ^^^^^

understanding his motivations is perfectly clear, he was getting extra poontang. That makes perfect sense. It may be crappy and A-holeish but it makes perfect sense.

The real question and the real head-scratcher here is why you were going along with it? That's the stumper here.
