What else is there to talk about, though? How else do you first-message a girl on online dating WITHOUT addressing her interests and trying to find a way to relate to them?

This is reductionist but at the end of the day it boils down roughly to this:

1. She thinks you're cute/hot and you can say anything that isn't outright rude or lazy to start a conversation and you'll be fine.

2. She is straight up not interested.

3. The gray area.

Pouring your time into crafting messages for a small minority (girls whose panties get wet talking about Kurt Vonnegut) within a minority (the ones who are in the gray area to begin with)? To me that seems like a lousy way to allocate your time and effort.

Either save some time and look for someone who is in group 1, or spend your time on self-improvement which will make you happier and translate into a more appealing lifestyle and more sustainable success in that grey area.
