hellohellohello Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I don't know if I'm secretly hoping for something to happen if we're in each other's lives long enough, or if I'm just getting too old to remove myself from the life of every single person I no longer feel the need to talk to (I literally have only one "old friend"). I feel that, in time, I'll forget about him and be able to move on like with any other crush, but for now I just can't picture the possibility of not being able to talk to him ever again.
d0nnivain Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 No you can't be good friends with a failed crush. That's like going on a diet but baking a chocolate cake & putting it on the counter so you can look at it. Too much temptation / longing for something you can't have. You hit the nail on the head -- you are sticking around secretly hoping something will eventually happen because you are there. You don't have to completely cut the person out of your life especially if you are both in the same social circle but you don't need to affirmatively try to maintain a connection either.
