abramov Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Here's the story. I work as a stockperson inside a Walmart. This Walmart is part of a larger mall. Inside this mall contains a food court. I usually have my packed lunch during my breaks at the food court. I noticed and started to like a girl who works at one of the places at the food court. I would take glances at her. Her co-worker (an older woman) and I talk quite often. One day, I decided to ask her co-worker for her age. The co-worker's reply was "The girl? Do you like her?!? Her name's Ariel. She's 21." She said she wanted to introduce me to her several times. I thought that she was just teasing Ariel and me about it, so I didn't take it seriously. One day, I complimented her on the lemonade that she makes and she seemed genuinely happy about the compliment and had a huge smile and had full eye contact. About 1 week later, a janitor was talking to the older woman and she saw me. The janitor said that she has a 22 year old daughter and this daughter is close friends with Ariel and then asked if I like her and would like to be introduced to Ariel. About 2-3 weeks later, I notice her looking at/reading something in the food court from a distance. I can't say for sure if she was reviewing her notes, but at the time, I just assumed that she was doing that and therefore she is a part-time college student. I then ran into her about a week ago and told her that "I saw you studying in the food court. Are you taking any courses?" and she said "I'm not taking any courses. I don't think that was me in the food court." When she gave me that reply, she had a smile on her face and had full eye contact. However, I stuck to my own assumptions and thought to myself that she wasn't being truthful. Right now, I am inclined to believe that she is mad at me and/or is not interested in me. A guy said maybe she is mad that I didn't look for her on Christmas Eve and say "Merry Christmas" to her, but, to be blunt, I disagree with his comment. Can I assume that the girl is not interested in me or hates me? Be blunt and to the point in your responses.
d0nnivain Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 This girl doesn't even know you. Why would she hate you? At this point you have blown multiple opportunities to be introduced to her & have meaningful conversations. Now you think she's lying to you. She probably concluded that you aren't interested. So either step up & talk to her or leave her alone. The more you stare but have only very limited interaction the creepier you seem.
Author abramov Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) It's better for 2 people not to date each other while working in the same mall, in case of a breakup it would get quite awkward! I will be leaving the Walmart soon though for a job as a web developer. Maybe I should ask her out then! Maybe she wasn't lying to me after all.... Edited January 9, 2016 by abramov
