Belle88 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I have a friend that ive been friends with for years, we used to be closer, but since she took a job out of state, we arent as close. I text with her every few months and maybe see her once or twice a year. We've always exchanged birthday and Christmas presents but now i think its a bit much since we never see each other. She always makes it a point to say she has a gift for me. She never came into town for the holidays so now im stuck with two presents one thats been sitting here for almost a year. I kind of want to bring it up that i dont think we should be exchanging gifts anymore. And she has a birthday coming up... I dont want to spend the money anymore.
CarrieT Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I dont want to spend the money anymore. Then don't. Honestly, a little secret that I have is that I have a small selection of pre-wrapped gifts that I keep for exactly the same scenario that you have described. Once in a while, an old friend will show up bearing a gift and I can always come up with something, "that I've been holding on for [you]!" In the grand scheme of things, it is a petty thing to be angry over, don't you think?
Author Belle88 Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Thanks that is a great idea. Im not really angry just annoyed.
