GingerVixen Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 So I am thinking about trying going to speed dating events but honestly they seem really lame to me... In Europe there are not many speed dating events so the culture is not that strong in here. Have you had good experiences in this kind of event? Have you found your SO in such an event?
RBLL Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 So I am thinking about trying going to speed dating events but honestly they seem really lame to me... In Europe there are not many speed dating events so the culture is not that strong in here. Have you had good experiences in this kind of event? Have you found your SO in such an event? I plan to try it next year. I've been told it would be a good way to start meeting ladies before trying the nightlife scene. I guess you never know who could be there. I say try it.
hhatesboys Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I've been experimenting with speed dating lately and it is kind of a mixed bag. And it is lame, LOL. My first impression was that it is emotionally exhausting. Imagine having the first date conversation, for five minutes, 20 times in a row. On one hand it is better because if you know you're not interested you only have to see him for 5 minutes instead of going through a whole date. On the other hand... that conversation "where are you from" "what do you do" etc, gets REALLY OLD. Fast. It starts to feel like a bunch of job interviews all in a row. However, I did get to attend a pretty fun (unsanctioned) speed dating afterparty on both occasions. AND I was able to meet a girl at speed dating who I am now friends with. That is the only thing I got out of it besides a couple of enjoyable evenings. As far as the men... a lot of them were work from home guys and half of them I felt were too old for me. I did not "match" with anyone either time. But I feel like it is one of those things that you never know when someone you like could show up. I'd probably do it again and I would recommend you do it at least once just to say you did it.
