I hooked up with a woman recently. She is about 10 years younger than me (me early thirties, her early/mid twenties). She works at a Whole Foods that I go to pretty much daily to eat lunch or dinner at in their food cafe. We have been flirting for months and finally I got her out a couple of times. Recently, we hooked up. She seems to be the relationship type and demonstrates some hopeful attachment toward me in her texts and such.

So, I went in to Whole Foods today to get my food - the first time I've seen her since we hooked up - and she seemed to act completely neutral and even awkward toward me. Much less interactive than usual. What's the deal with this? Is she just being awkward because she's younger and doesn't know how to act toward me all of a sudden, or is she having second thoughts? I'd be surprised if she were having mixed feelings. We have plans to see each other again too.

Have you been communicating with her since 'hooking up'? How long between the hook up and this visit to the store?

Possible options. Sex wasn't great. She was getting over an ex. She told a friend and they said what are you doing hooking up with a guy 10 years older than you.

Hookup was just a few days ago, and we have texted more days than not since then. The texts have been flirty and reaffirming of our interest in each other. We even made plans coming up this week. Strange. Either way, I'm totally going to get curious about this awkward acting when I see her next and see what's up.

Also bizarre... I bumped into a couple of her colleagues at a cafe tonight. Usually they acknowledge me when they see me and talk for a minute. Tonight, they wouldn't return my eye contact at all. Wtf?!?

She's probably embarrassed that she hooked up with a customer, feels awkward about flirting with you while at work, but likes you. Just talk to her about it next time you see her.

It is definitely weird.

Perhaps she is ashamed of the fact she works in Whole Foods and you're still eating there and she feels uncomfortable with your presence there, now that you had sex?

Perhaps her work colleagues know that she had sex with customer and she's ashamed of that??? There may be many reasons

She could be embarrassed she hooked up with a customer, also everyone there might know you hooked up with her, which makes it even more uncomfortable for her. I think it's just awkwardness because you guys crossed that line (hooking up) and now she sees you at her work. I think if you talked to her about this and maybe scaled back on going there until she's comfortable, you'll be fine. She might not like you there while she's working since you guys are hooking up.

As for the colleagues, co-workers can be idiots. They could be jealous. Maybe the guys there liked her and are upset you got to her first... the girls just jealous because, well, they're girls :D

I would ignore the age thing someone else brought up.
