dobielover Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Why there's a tendency here (I've noted since a couple weeks ago) to treat people who post here like they're doing everything wrong? You meeeeeean like YOU are doing with the girl in question?? I think the consensus here is actually that he should have given her the benefit of the doubt and that she was doing nothing wrong.

You have two options: look for help in another forum or... Just one option sorry )
katiegrl Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Ok, if you didn't give her your full name and she googled your name, found your fb and all you've yold us...run. Or she's really stupid (I mean, I've done that tons of times but never told the guy!) or a weirdo. I'd have freaked out if some guy would have done the same. I'd block him. So you admit you do the *same* thing tons of times, but you never told the guy? And you think this proves you are somehow more stable, smarter and worthy of dating? Because you chose to hide the fact you *stalked" him (your words)...instead of doing what this girl did by being open, honest and upfront about it? Oh good lord, that is hilarious! OP, run, she is open and honest!!!!! Run for your life! But date BG, who stalks but hides that fact from you. Unbelievable.... 6

Actually no, I have a date tonight, I was going to open a thread so you give me your advice whether I should go or not 1
11012015 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 My phone # isn't tied to my FB account, and I don't care if people can look at my profile. It's the red flag I got that she was digging so deep so quick, and asked about me hugging someone. How do you think she got your last name, then? Just curious. Image search from your OLD profile pic (that perhaps matched FB profile pic)?
MidwestUSA Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Yes, I guess op can date me. I'm totally free! Actually no, I have a date tonight, I was going to open a thread so you give me your advice whether I should go or not OMG, OP changed his mind and forgave you! I hear wedding bells. Oh, that girl in the pic? It was his sister.
MidwestUSA Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 How do you think she got your last name, then? Just curious. Image search from your OLD profile pic (that perhaps matched FB profile pic)? Reverse phone look up? Caller ID? Maybe he just has one name. Like Prince. 2

Actually no, I have a date tonight, I was going to open a thread so you give me your advice whether I should go or not LOL, after your recent admission, I highly doubt dating you would be an option for the OP...being how private he is and all. :) But glad you can poke fun at yourself anyway.... Ya just got a laugh at all this sometimes, right? Texting, FB, social media.... and all the problems it creates. These things were created to help us connect, but the reality is, it does the exact opposite.

katiegrl Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 <chick who met her husband on Facebook slinks away quietly> There are always exceptions of course... I should have written "in many cases" at the end of that post. Glad to hear you had a very positive experience... and married him!
Author Ic1 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 I must say it's fascinating how this thread has played. But not too shocked because it's an online forum. (Think of the context of the subject and environment) I'll share the 'timeline' one last time with all details I've shared. Few days before event: Exchange a few messages on OLD site. She's given my real first name during this time. Around noon of today: We make plans on OLD site to get a brew after work tomorrow, and exchange phone #s for quicker communication and possible change of plans. She sends immediate text to confirm #, and we chat a bit by text. She learns what city I really live in during this time. After 60 min of texting she doesn't get a hint that I want to chat tomorrow, not all the way through 'til tomorrow. I tell her let's stop and learn about each other tomorrow in person. Few minutes latter she asks "who's that girl you're hugging on your Facebook timeline in [date of photo]" I look up what she's seeing and I'm a bit shocked because she only has my first name & phone # for about an hour now. Don't respond immediately. 20 minutes or so pass with no communication but I put much thought into thinking what just happened and what kind of girl is she? I tell her it's my friend and that we shouldn't meet the next day. No response.
SwordofFlame Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I have to side with the OP here. If she's already snooping and questioning that much before even meeting you, how much will she snoop later on? It just sends the wrong vibe. She could have sent a friend request. 2
dobielover Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 How do you think she got your last name, then? Just curious. Image search from your OLD profile pic (that perhaps matched FB profile pic)? It's so crazy easy. "I work for [company name] as a [job title] in [not huge city] and my name is [first name]." Google. Google is your friend. I just did it right now, with a dude named Steve in SF, an ex, who works for a large company with a relatively common title. Common name, huge city, large company, common title, and even still, his profile was the fifth link, and second personal link, down. 1
MidwestUSA Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 The timeline really shows it in a different light. If you have any pet rabbits, house them somewhere else for a while.
Author Ic1 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 The timeline really shows it in a different light. If you have any pet rabbits, house them somewhere else for a while. I'm confused. The OLD creep didn't see me making out with a girl in a photo, and she wasn't a FWB.

I agree it's a little creepy........but OP still advise you to put setting on private/friends only while you are dating various chicks, and not friend them until you are exclusive. Anyone have a hat I could eat? lol 1

MidwestUSA Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I'm confused. The OLD creep didn't see me making out with a girl in a photo, and she wasn't a FWB. I was joking. Anyone that would snoop that quickly and deeply, then let you know she did it, tho, yea, over the top. Stick with those of us who don't let our techniques be known. What you don't know won't repel you.

Anyone have a hat I could eat? lol Yeah and I guess you can eat two hats in a row, go back to your previous posts about MY dating story with the doctor. Glad the advice here is free. Gezz
losangelena Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I see now. FB settings set to only friends viewing. Lesson learned. Good, that's how it should be. When I was on FB my page was on lockdown. Potential suitors or employers need not snoop. Not that there's anything particularly objectionable, but I'm like you, OP, I'd rather someone find out those things in person.
katiegrl Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Yeah and I guess you can eat two hats in a row, go back to your previous posts about MY dating story with the doctor. Glad the advice here is free. Gezz No ....no need to eat my hat about the advice I gave you. My advice still holds. You have issues and should stop dating for awhile...and sort your issues out. Have you read the latest post from Qboro? I hope so cause it is right on - best post on the thread.

Sorry, no intention to bug op post but what your advice was exactly? The dr is a good guy or a jerk? Mmm? Anyways, op, good job cancelling that date
SwordofFlame Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Just wanted to add for those of you who say a lot of people snoop before the first date. Well that's like picking your nose. Everyone does it, but no one admits it lol. 3

Author Ic1 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Or farting. Well, there are those that are proud of them. Maybe this girl was that type?
