minniemouse25 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Hey everyone you probably saw my previous posts, here's an update: I'm engaged! I'm so excited. He proposed Christmas day. We are planning to get married may 2017! With 40 people max immediate family and couple close friends. Going to try find place to do ceremony and wedding pictures then we will go to someone's house for pot luck dinner. No gifts if we are asking to bring a dish. We will provide the meats and the wedding cake, drinks. Right now I'm trying to finalize guest list and find photographer for our engagement shoot this coming April I hope and hopefully they can do our wedding pictures too if all goes well! Any tips on planning a wedding under 2000 dollars? 4
MidwestUSA Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Congratulations! No tips, I got married with two witnesses. Best of luck for a bright and happy future! 1
basil67 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Congratulations! Simple dress. Simple bouquet. DIY wedding breakfast. 1
CarrieT Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Congratulations! Don't get hung up on the dress; I got mine at ModCloth for about $130. They have a handful there right now that are perfect for a small, intimate wedding ranging from $50 to $200. Consider locally-picked wildflowers for a bouquet. Start researching Do-It-Yourself to save on costs for things like that. Don't get too wrapped up in the "things" for a wedding. What you will remember is the people who are there to share it with you, not the color-coordinated wedding favors. All that is STUFF that won't mean much after-the-fact. 2
BettyDraper Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Congrats! Marry at the courthouse or the same place where you are having dinner. Ask a friend who is good with a camera to take pictures. Get a bouquet from supermarket florist or artificial flowers. Find a white dress that isn't marketed as a "bridal" gown". 1
Gloria25 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Congratulations!!! And, I also applaud you on not being just another "Bridezilla" who wastes thousands on "one day" You both being conscious about your budget and not putting monetary expectations on others (love the "bring a dish" plan), shows good things about you both On top of what every one else recommended - Dollar Store. They have decent decorations, cards, serving plates and stuff. 1
67Chevelle Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Congratulations! Please dont be one of those women that snaps 400 photos of your ring, showing it off to everyone possible, making it the focal point of the situation. You and your man are the focal point, not the ring.
