People here seem to be insisting on 'Alpha' and "Beta' qualities, but it seems people are unaware of the other 4 - Delta, Gamma, Sigma and Omega. In fact, people here don't even recognized Beta, as the 'Beta' described here seems to be a blend of Delta and Omega types.

Most people are a congregation of different personality characteristics and they are expressed differently in different circumstances and at different times.

Of course, but people still don't understand that alpha and beta aren't the only ones in the alpha/beta theory.

wtf???????

Oversimplification:

Alpha - Guy who 'fills the room' with confidence and charisma.

Beta - Still highly confidant, but defers to the alpha.

Delta - Average confidence, leadership, more of a follower but good at maintaining relationships.

Sigma: High confidence, but manipulative. Is always initially popular, but burns bridges quickly when everyone discovers the Sigma is an *******.

Omega: No social skills at all. Often oblivious to boundaries. Few friends.

Gamma: Below average social skills, but is aware of their deficit. Often becomes a 'late bloomer' and has high intelligence.

AAAAGREED^^!!!

I mean, people consider me "A" type personality. I consider myself not just a "B", but a B-.

Cuz yea, I have high expectations on myself and others - but sometimes have little to no motivation and even "if" I may have the ability and/or knowledge/skill to do something, a lack of confidence holds me back.

Socially, I consider myself a late bloomer and quite frankly, think I still have poor social skills. I also cannot manipulate anyone and/or have any "street smarts". My fav podcaster was talking about one of her college mates who moved on to becoming a MD and she said the woman was highly intelligent, but pooooor social skills. Sometimes I think that's the price many smart people pay for having intelligence - lack of social skills/ability to "connect" and eccentricities.

Cuz gosh darn, on top of lacking social skills I have some quirky ways about me I guess that throws people off? I mean, many people - just when they "think" they know me, say that they just don't get me. I "get" me. I make sense to "me".

All of this alpha-beta nonesense wasn't even part of general conversation until about 10 years ago. It's filling the social void that was left by zodiac signs and mood rings. In a few more years we will be categorizing people something else.

I always found it strange when someone calls themselves "alpha". It's almost like a guarantee that they are NOT alpha if they are calling themselves that. I guess they are trying to convince themselves and other people that they are.

You left the other 20 letters out, OP.

Alpha, Beta, and Omega, are designations used to categorize male mammal according to social traits. But Gamma, Delta, and Sigma appear to be internet inventions. I don't see anything about it in the scientific literature.

This reminds me that a friend who is a leather person once told me: "if a man has to keep telling people he's a Master, then he's no more a master than a butterfly."

Seems similar
