MAJOR red flags just 5 days into the relationship. Is she bipolar?

What if she says "No, I can't. I'm busy. Can you please just come here to pick it up?" I have a feeling she might say that. Out of curiosity, what would you say if she says that?

"If you need my help returning the hamster, this is how I can do that."

Except you shouldn't be dealing with the hamster. I can't wrap my mind around you buying it, but she "always wanted a hamster" so now she has her wish!!

Now that I'm remembering the give and take of a relationship, as well as the sanity that should go along with it, I feel I'm better equipped for the next one.
Please stop referring to this few dates as "a relationship," that will be a good start to your process of recentering!! :bunny::bunny:

She must have been really good looking

OP, please do not give in to desperation like this again. I said the same thing to so many members since being here, I must stress the same to you. Always keep your wits about you, always. Also, don't worry about the hamster.

She's got the cage, the hamster and the receipt. But it's on my credit card so I need to be there for her to return it.

OK, Teknoe - THAT IS BS and I think you know it. If she has the receipt, and they accept returns, she CAN return it without you and your credit card. Of this I am 100% positive. They might give her a cash refund but I believe they can charge it back to the card through the receipt, they can do that at all the stores I shop at.

Come on.

Tek ...is this whole situation a figment of your bored imagination? I mean a hamster? Earlier in this thread I think I referred to the girl being bunny boiler material...then you bring out the hamster?! Hmmm ...you're 32 ...you're acting like a 6 yr old ...I've got young kids, I remember the kinds of conundrums they experienced ...this is too much. You're 32!! It's a hamster!!! Come on ...wth

Is your life worth $75?? Just have her "donate" the hamster to the pet store. If the girl has the receipt the pet store knows the items were purchased there. They'll take it back on a donation basis. Are you thinkng this girl wants the $$??! Why do you insist on being involved with this?

Let it go Tek. I'm a huge animal lover but I wouldn't go near this situation. I do feel sorry for the hamster:( This girl insisting on retuning this animal shows how emotionally unstable she is. Once I take on a pet ...they have a forever home. This girl is the queen of knee jerk reactions. Spiteful is she.

I think you may be a little over the top but be that as it may... here are some facts:

1. Her parents don't want her to keep the hamster in their house. OK she claims this. I'm not sure if it's true.

2. She has the receipt.

3. I paid it on my credit card which means I would need to be there to get back my money

True, I could have her donate everything back. I think I will say that to her if she rejects my offer to meet at the store. Something like

"Hey can you meet me at the store today at ___? Too busy to drive over to your place."

If she follows up with a "No, I'm busy. Come to my place instead"

I'll say something like "Sorry like I said I'm busy. On second thought, you can donate everything back to the store. You do have the receipt and I don't need the money back. You don't need me to be there."

Over the top? Hey if you think so ...go to the girl's house. Have at it.

Without my credit card there in person they can't swipe and refund me the money on my card, no?

Yes, she has the receipt so she can return everything herself. However, it would be a donation. I don't think the store can give me back my money if my credit card isn't physically there? Actually, I'm not sure. I remember my card being swiped in the past whenever I returned stuff charged on my CC. But maybe I'm wrong here.

Either way, I'm hearing you guys loud and clear. Gotta make smarter relationship choices going forward.

Most places that are up with the technology just scan the receipt. Your info is all there.

Teknoe sorry, but I have to be blunt - NOBODY is going to take you seriously if you talk about fearing for your life, alerting the police, Jody Arias, etc. and then worry that you won't get your hamster money back ...

Just let the money go. Tell her to return the hamster and cage herself and you never have to see her again. By wanting to get your money back, you're guaranteeing you get to see again which will only cause more of this drama. For the sake of this thread I wouldn't hate that, but for your own sanity maybe don't feed into that anymore.

I think she's lucky. I want a man who puts a $10 hamster over and above everything that common sense tells him . . .

They probably wouldn't take back a hamster without evidence that the hamster came from them. You can't necessarily "donate" animals to pet stores. They don't know if the animal has some contagious disease or something.

No, she has the receipt. On the plus side, she even sent me a pic of the receipt. I have proof.

Here's what I'll do:

I'll call the pet store tonight and ask them if my "friend" can return the hamster and cage, and if they can charge back on my CC without my card physically being there. If it's not possible, I'll ask them if she can just donate it back with the receipt -- no refund needed.

Correct, the best option is never to see her again. If I see her again it will just delay the healing process for her, and give her even more hope that we can be together again. That's the last thing I want. So, I'll see if she can return it without my being there.

This is like a bad soap opera!

1. I hope you get the hamster back and return to LS safe and sound

2. After that, please go NC on this girl and hire a bodyguard

3. Please re-evaluate your dating goals

Do update us back so we know you're still alive. Otherwise, we in LS will do a search party for you and the hamster.

All the best, take care!

Maybe go to court and get 50/50 custody / visitation. Let's keep this thread and the hamster alive:bunny::laugh:

LOL, it is like a bad soap opera. Thankfully, I figured out I needed an exit plan 5 days in and not 5 months or worse yet -- 5 years. She'll get over me but it'll take time. In the meantime, I need to lay low and do NC. If she contacts me I need to ignore or better yet block her. I defriended her before I ended things.

I honestly think this thread is getting blown up to the point where the girl is pictured as this raving lunatic. She's really not THAT bad... but yeah, I'll heed caution and play it smart/safe. I also hope for her sake that she finds a way to cope with whatever hang ups she may have.

Yikes!!

See why I said not to label things so quickly?

Also, never talk about marriage with someone you've known under a week again!! This girl is crazy but a normal one would've left you high n dry in a second!
