I was so happy I got a raise AND a bonus this year. Office staff in this business don't normally qualify for bonuses, but I worked on a special project that took most of my time last year and saved the company millions of dollars. The raise was smaller than expected and so was the bonus, but because last year I got a huge raise and promotion, I didn't raise a stink about it.

My bonus was $2000, so after taxes I saw maybe half of it. Well because of the position I am in, I found out that my boss, who also worked on the project, and who makes about twice my salary, is getting a bonus of $22,000!!!!!

WTF! Maybe I should have slept with him on that last business trip when he was coming on to me. Plus my raise was only 2% and his was 13%. I need to grow a penis.

At my company which is one of the largest in the U.S. we get a 5% yearly bonus based on salary (at our level). The higher you go in mgmt the higher the percentage. It is payable yearly and depends on how the company does financially overall.

So if it was a really good year the CEO may declare a 125% bonus payout in which case for me my bonus would be 6.25% (5% x 125%). Or if it was a terrible year they would declare a 25% bonus payout which would be 1.25% of salary (5% x 25%). Or it could be zero

Yes, but he has WAY more responsibility than you do- so he makes the big bucks- AND his can is on the line when he messes up!

I work on Wall St - so bonuses are first based on the Firm's performance, then departmental performance and finally on individual performance. Basically each division gets a pool of money and is allowed to divide it up as they see fit.

Bonuses range anywhere from 0 to many multiples of your base. Again that all depends on your position, your contribution and of course what department you are in.

I am in a purely support/expense area so our bonuses are not what you read about in the newspapers. Mine is generally around 125% of my base pay - but then again I work my butt off for it!!!!

I assure you they take their pound (s) of flesh and when you work it all out - it is probably still close to slave wages.

I've never received over a five-figure bonus, but it was a nice five-figures! That job (sadly) is long gone now, but I remember one investment banker getting a bonus of over six million for one year. He earned it. I'm thinking that after one bonus like that I'd retire!! :p

I am a broker for several different Insurance companies I work for myself but the companies are constantly having "contests" for incentives sometimes it's cash but most of the time it is paid trips witch I love

I have won free air fair and 3 night hotel stay anywhere in the country that I haven't used yet and am working on a Trip to Costa Rica. I prefer the vacation packages rather then cash.

We don't get bonus'. instead he gives me more work for less money. Last time I got a raise was 2 years ago and he thinks it was a substantial amount to last me til I die.
