Has been about 3 months now since my ex left me. Still nowhere near moving through the process. Constantly thinking about her and want her back.

Have taken the proper steps in trying to get help and am seeing a therapist and was diagnosed with temp major depression due to this event.

Anxiety, weight-loss, negative thinking, you name it.

My GP gave me xanax to help with the sudden panic / anxiety attacks. Luckily those have subsided for the most part since I am not a fan of drugs.

Definitely wanted to stay away from anti-depressants as they seem to create more problems than they solve and take weeks to fully work.

After some research I found that there were a lot of articles on this supplement called 5-HTP. Many reviews from people who switched from their prescription anti-depressants to taking these with what seemed to be amazing results and relief from the sides they were having.

Figured it would be worth a try. The idea being that this stuff naturally increases the serotonin which is the feel good chemical that seems we are so short on during tough breakup's where we just do not want to wake up anymore and wish it would all end.

Figured for $15 what the hell. Honestly after 3 days I felt a bit different. Less spontaneous crying and felt a little better and able to cope with everyday life. Disclaimer: This is not a magic pill, I still have bad days and the general dull pain of her leaving me, despair etc.......especially with the holidays. However it does take the edge off. Would recommend trying it if you have not already. Most articles I read recommended 300mg for depression per day. I would recommend the time released pills so you have a steady flow all day. I started with one 200mg pill once per day and recently upped it to 2x per day 8am and 8pm. So far so good and it is making life more bearable. Anything to help get me over the hump which only time will heal.

Just figured I would post this info for those who can use a bit more help coping and do not want to go the route of prescription meds.

Best of luck to everyone.

I take xanex before bed and through out the day..Not really because of my breakup, but for anxiety with clients and business things.. It has helped put a 'cap' on my emotions of the split and i'm getting decent sleep though.

????

This is the problem with society, let's numb our emotions and not feel them.

Man, I just want to stop thinking about the guy I like so much. It's ridiculous.

You might think differently if you've ever experienced "thinking about the guy" being the borderline equivalent of a nervous breakdown or heart failure, etc.
