BelleSkye Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 How do you pick yourself up when you dream about your ex?
TaraMaiden2 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 it's not the dream that sets you back. It's your continued focus on believing it means anything. Let it go, and don't give it any more significance than you would any other dream. Your mind cannot 'invent' faces. So it will create a scene using faces you're already familiar with. I dreamt once I was in a strip club, and there was my mother.....Pole-dancing. I quite literally don't want to go there..... 2

I've just started having the ex dreams, because I was 'partying' myself to sleep for the first few weeks(haven't partied in 7 days), so when I stopped and my clear mind came back...BOOM! dreams of the ex... Lately.. I wake up,workout and shower, then shake them off about 20 minutes into my drive to the office. Some days the dream crosses my mind and I 'switch it off' by looking into future investments($).. it gets me through my day somewhat sane/functional. It's all part of the process of moving on. I dream't about my ex-wife for a couple of years after my divorce and I did/do despise that woman!! It just happens. Roll with it. 1
artnoveau Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 How do you pick yourself up when you dream about your ex? Hello BelleSkye. I have the same problem. I'm fine during the day, because I keep busy, but as soon as I get more sleep than six hours I start dreaming of my ex and it is very disturbing. And its distressing not because I put meaning into it, but because it keeps me remembering. And remembering what you have lost is always painful. So just to say: its okay that it is distressing to you. When in your sleep cycle do you get them? I only get mine when I go to sleep after I have woken in the early morning. I guess it is when I'm in a semi-conscious state. If it is the same for you you can just avoid going back to sleep and limit your sleep to what you need. If you have them in the middle of the night it might be more difficult. If you wake up from those nightmares, distract yourself by maybe watching a TV series. That always helps me. You can also try to do more sports in the evening so you are more exhausted. Or basically anything that you think will make you sleep dreamless. I'm not sure those are helpful tips. But I'm going through the same and feel with you. It gets better.
