I ended up spending most of the time chatting to one of them and my friend with the other. We went for food but they went home as they said they had to get up early the next morning. Before they left I managed to get her number and she put "super hot" in brackets after her name and gave me a little kiss on the lips which I wasn't expecting, which all seems pretty positive The thing is we go to college in the same place but we're from different parts of the country and we're both going home fairly soon for Christmas. She told me though that she's actually coming to my city for a few days after the holidays so I told her we should hang out and she seemed up for it. My question is whether I should wait to text her until just after Christmas so I don't end up in a drawn out text conversation, or text in the next couple of days so the interest doesn't die off?

She's the one CATing (luring) you with a kiss you didn't expect and putting her number in your phone for you. If she got the confidence to play you like that at the end, it had been building up through the night. She'll just be a player if you can't take the game over. Don't send any Christmas eve/day messages because any message on those dates will be inevitably implying "I'm super interested in the super hot!" Wait for a day between Christmas and New Years.

Right, I'd normally try to set something up in the first couple of days after meeting but given the whole situation this does seem a bit different. And in terms of what to say when it comes down to it? I'm reasonably confident in my abilities IRL but my text game's always been a bit weak.

Hope you had a nice Christmas.... Was Santa good to you this year?" To initiate a convo. I always preferred getting the girl to engage in a convo or at least get a reply first before asking her to hang out otherwise you risk showing your cards to early and giving her the option to just ignore it without you knowing she definitely read it. If you prefer doing otherwise and want to come right out and ask her then just say "hey, what's up, hope your Christmas was enjoyable/hope you had a nice holiday back home (if u text her after New Years).. Wanted to see when you'd be back and if you still wanna get together and do something?" .... Casual and easy to get your point across. You should get a yes based on what you described happening last time you saw her.
