Say hello and smile again...

Do a quick little "embarrassed" girly smile...

Then drop your fork on the floor...

if he rushes to get you a clean one yay he will ask you out. If you have to call the waiter he isn't going to so enjoy your food

Cart your laptop over to him, and show him that you just put this post on the net.

(you might want to shield the NAME of this website though)

it will flatter him, AND suggest that you can laugh at yourself !!

Ask him for some napkins, or condiments on his table. Come up with some excuse to engage him but still make him do the work.

I've seen women try to approach guys and do the work themselves and it gives me douche chills everytime.

Thats fine - if he sees you in "distress" he will help...

Drop that damn fork - preferably while he is watching!

Nah ... too contrived....

Just be genuine and real ....just continuing smiling and making good eye contact....

Agree with gaius' advice...

Honestly, that's a really unwise idea.

If he doesn't have to work for it he won't value it!

drop something...

I don't understand this concept.

Does anyone really believe he is going to leave his friend, rush across the room like your knight and shining armor, pick it up for you ... while you gaze into each other's eyes and live happily after after?

LOL ....don't count on it.

Hopeful, seriously ...next time, walk over, ask him for a napkin, write your number on it, hand it to him with a sweet smile ...then leave. No need to even say a word!

If he is interested (and available)..he will call or text. If not, oh well.

None of this dropping shyt ....too contrived plus that shyt went out ages ago ....and won't work anyway.

Be genuine, real and direct. You are interested. Give him your number, and see if he calls.

Know several marriages that have gone on for many years because of this very thing.

Know more that start this way than through on line dating...

My grandparents for a start...

Next time hopeful do SOMETHING. You can write your number on the napkin, you can drop something but for goodness sake do something!

I'd have said run out the door after him and give him your number, but alas! the psychological moment has passed...

next time, go after what you want. The worst that can happen is he says "no".

Maybe it's because you were online asking strangers what to do that maybe made him think you were too busy and unavailable otherwise.

Next time, we can come over and give him a note that says "Yes or No - Mark a checkmark under one of these"

Your grandparents? Like I said this little game went out ages ago....but hey there are always exceptions I suppose.

Most guys I know wouldn't "get it" it though...unless a woman blatantly dropped something where they were close enough where he could conveniently pick it up ...without making a point to rush across the room like an idiot.

Then of course, one would have to start an actual convo after.... other than her thanking him.

JMO though. :)

That said ...why not just be straightforward and give him your number?

Why play those coy games ....which he might not even "get" anyway?

Not understanding that ...but to each his own.

Sounds like me. There is a guy in my bible study we always happen to sit next to each other. A couple of times our hands have accidentally held hands. I'm not looking or anything for a relationship. If it happens it happens. But its so strange.

Probably why each time the guy and I accidentally hold hands it doesn't bother him. ?

People smile at each other all the time,it's just a friendly gesture, doesn't mean he is interested ?

Make it known that you're attracted to him,

Go up, say hi, ask him out on a date on a whim,

Waiting around for your knight in shining armor is a passive stance,

Go after the guy who gives you butterflies at the first glance!
