katiegrl Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I have, and was in a 10+ year-long live-in relationship with someone with differing political views. We were well aware our votes typically cancelled one another's out. I could do it, again. Unless, of course, he was a Trump supporter. But, that would have less to do with our differing politics, and more to do with the fact that I'm not attracted to idiots, so we'd never have a first date, anyway. LOL @ your second paragraph! I agree! My bf is a huge Trump supporter ---- and I think I may have to break up with him! It's just too much to take..... Another thread.
GemmaUK Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 From my experiences so far I would much prefer that a man has the same or similar political beliefs as myself. Conservatives appear to have different life values to myself. I find it pretty scary that Labour supporters (or many) seem to have defected to UKIP being totally unaware it's far right thinking it's left of Left. I am more Libertarian than anything. I could not date a Trump supporter - no way in hell! I'd be Anarchist except I would have to over throw myself out of principle!
RecentChange Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Nope, I couldn't. And it's not about republican or democrat for me (I don't tow any party lines) but fundamentally different beliefs surrounding what is good for society, values, religion etc - if their views are opposing to mine, its not going to work. But I don't usually "like" people with opposite core values either, so I can't imagine dating someone who has beliefs opposite of mine.
