Olivia89 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I am just looking for advise from anyone who has experience with online dating. I have only met 1 person from the site in person. We did not chat for that long before the date and then stopped talking afterwards. Now, I have been talking to another person for a while. We typically messege each other 1 paragraph per day. I started to wonder how long that was going to go on for before he asked to meet in person. I mean, I am not on a dating site to have a pen pal. I think dating sites are a good way to meet people that you might not have otherwise ever met. But after that, at some point we need to get off the computer and get into real life. So I asked him if he wanted to meet. He said it would be real nice to meet me and asked if I have any ideas or suggestions on what we can do. Typically I like to wait for the man to ask me out and suggest something to do together. But in this situation I have had to take the initiative. Any suggestion/advice for what a good first date with someone I met online would be? Also, since I am the one who asked him to meet, do I pay for our first date? This seems so backwards. Its not about the money, I just feel like I am wearing the pants and our relationship hasn't even started yet.
Myragal Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 When dating in the real world, I always let the man take the initiative. I don't OLD but it is a bit different. A man might want a woman to feel safe and secure. Meet somewhere she knows. If for this reason, he is being considerate. A guy with good social skills should be aware that we women are hesitant to meet a stranger. Anyways, somewhere for a coffee or glass of wine. I like dating somewhere where we can go for a casual stroll afterwards if things go well. I would be prepared to pay...but...if he didn't offer then...yikes. I like traditional roles where a man likes to take charge.
abby_tx Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Yeah, I'd grab a drink some place. And no you do NOT have to pay for him because you were the one who suggested the date. That's weird. Just go dutch.
