kuro Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I've been trying to make new friends and find it hard. I don't have many friends and the friends I have I hardly meet and tend to feel lonely. I use meetup.com to meet new people, but I'm quiet and not talkative, which is why I find it hard to make friends.
basil67 Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Yeah, if you're not talkative it will be hard to make friends. People tend to want friends who can hold up their own end of the conversation. Have you ever looked at learning conversational skills?
preraph Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Well, glad you're trying meetups. You may have already considered this, but I've found it's easier to be comfortable and have something to say with strangers if you are sharing an active physical activity, such as bowling or just anything that takes the pressure off to do nothing but talk. You might also consider going to comedy clubs with a meetup group. At least afterwards, maybe you have a drink and just talk about the funny parts. It's less of a strain!
sportygirl89 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I've experienced this at church recently. If you are in your mid 20s I think its much harder.
Liquinn Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I'm SO open online and not in person. That's how it is, I guess.

I've tried that, but it hasn't helped. I'm socially awkward too. It doesn't stop me from trying again, though.
