getsmartie Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Let me be clear that I am not the one who is stoic, my boyfriend of 18 months is. I'm curious because as I said I am not stoic and I wear my heart on my sleeve (although I'm not an emotional wreck). Is the expression still waters run deep really true? I'm trying to understand my partner better.
AspenBaldwin Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Ask him question about his childhood, maybe there is sth in his past that explains why he is this way you describe, get him talking, get to really know him, connect with him, either he begins to loosen up or you are in for some boring life together with him.
Wewon Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Is the expression still waters run deep really true? I'm trying to understand my partner better. I'd say to assume that it's true, it will make you more empathetic and kinder to him. A lot of times people see less emotion from someone and conveniently assume license to be totally insensitive.
Author getsmartie Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Yes I did forget to mention that he was raised to have a stiff upper lip....and in fact his parents have never told him that they love him....and he's in his 50's! I was raised so differently, both my parents always tell me they love me. Makes me sad for him....he really is sensitive but again you would never know that....just thought I could hear from someone who can relate to this....
