A little back story... I'm 28 and have been divorced for a year, I married my high school sweetheart right after high school. So I have basically no experience dating.

I've done some online dating in the last year and am a little burnt out by the whole experience. There is the flurry of questions, some important and some not. The run down on family and past relationships. Then the rush to set up a face to face meeting to see if this guy is as great as he seems in text.

All that said I met a guy in real life! Like face to face organically. Who knew LOL. We met through our kids playing together on the neighborhood playground and have talked on the phone occasionally and hung out watching football/movie a couple times. The thing is I don't know how all this works in real life. Online there is practically a set of rules on how things progress, it's predictable and almost seems safer, less emotional if a random guy online doesn't keep chatting. This way is scary, what if he doesn't like me? Our kids love playing together and would be sad if that stopped. We live on the same street and cross paths at least once a week while I'm walking the dog etc. How on earth do people date not online?

It sounds to me like you're doing it just right so far! I don't know how to make it so that he knows that it's actual dating though and not just hanging out, but talking on the phone and stuff... it sounds promising, in my opinion. :)

In OLD, you are ' in relationship ' with a fictional character and in real life , with real person. ;)

If your kids are friends , there is a fine line that you need to be very careful about, especially that you are almost neighbors as well.
