I'm guessing you don't spend much time with kids and haven't had any young'uns in your own life for a while. In these matters, the children's welfare MUST come first and adults have to step above their own issues to put the welfare of children above all. Never mind you were whatever kind of kid you were - this is a different child who WANTS to talk to her mom and nobody should stop that. You knew your grandparents didn't have phones so it's entirely different. I'm quite sure they didn't forbid you from writing to your parents or your parents to you.

And yes Alpha at 16 it's completely different. More than likely a 16 year old would rather not talk to EITHER parents on the phone!

My being almost 25, not married, no kids, no bf that has been married or had any kids has little to do with this situation. I just gave my insight on things. IT's not about not letting a child talk to their mom. It's about tiki, her family, her marriage, her relationship with his husband ex and their daughter. If we're trying to abstract things, like "it's a cruelty not to let a 6 year old talk to her mom", then we can say lots of other things like "it's a cruelty to lead women on, gain their confidence, get them in the sack and then totally cut them off from your life" However if you put things in its specific context, the same situation completely changes its dimension. As I've said before, parents know best. That's what tiki's been saying all along and personally I agree with it. I only hope that this Disney trip will bring them more together as a family and not become the central point of more animosity. I trust tiki to be able to handle this correctly.

I agree C.I.A. but if TIKIs son was going on a wk long trip with her husband and his ex wife I don't think TIKI would like it very much if his ex wife would not let the kid call TIKI. What this comes down to basically is that you should not get in the way of children and their parent(s) unless of course there is something majorly detrimental going on.
moimeme Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 It's a rare day, but in this case I agree with AM. You can't equate little kids with adults and, yes, there are rules in these situations. The mother isn't in jail. She's not a dope addict. She's not violent with the kids. Those are the ONLY reasons I could see MIGHT be reasons to keep a kid from her mom.
