Gloria25 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 This question is geared mainly towards guys... Guys, what do you feel is adequate to wear on a date - especially a first date? I have gone on a few dates recently where I had to ask myself like WTH? Is it too hard to throw on a decent pair of jeans, shirt, and shoes? I mean, does a guy not dressing well on a date equate low interest, bad sense of style, or something else?
loveiswar101 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Well...out the blue ive just gone on a few dates of late. I'm a jeans guys, nice boots, nice shirt. It's warm herein oz. But believe on how do I want to come across. So no it's not wrong to expect what you ask. Not sure if not dressing untidy reflects low interest. Did the dates go well even with the guy not making an effort?
JustGettingBy Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Shirt jeans and shoes. I bother to dress at least like that even when I'm not on a date.
Buddhist Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I mean, does a guy not dressing well on a date equate low interest, bad sense of style, or something else? It usually means he's heterosexual. If you want a snappy dresser you need to go bi.
LostOnes05 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I like a woman that can wear jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt and still look gorgeous. But I figure I'm a minimalist when it comes to that because I'm not attracted to women that wear a lot of makeup either : ) . Unless we specifically state that it's a formal dinner or something, I don't see the point in either of us getting all dressed up for a first date, sixth date, etc. If we are going to a play or really nice restaurant then dressing up would be appropriate. 1
Author Gloria25 Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Lemme put some examples of "don'ts for a date" Sorry Bradley Cooper: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2njq2Guqp4c/S742XHRe0KI/AAAAAAABJZg/yW9YrW3quLQ/s1600/408+bco.jpg http://media.gq.com/photos/5583cd6a3655c24c6c96e818/master/w_716,h_954,c_limit/copilot-style-celebrities-201401-1406750631249_Worst-Dressed-Shia-Pants-Triptych.jpg http://cdn.newadnetwork.com/sites/prod/files/styles/gallery/public/photos/top-5-worst-dressed-celebs-week-were-talking-red-carpet-fashion-catastrophes-46454.jpg
HeartDesires Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Bradley still looks hot. Sorry...not sorry
Timshel Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Gloria, you look cute in what ever. Stop it.
Ic1 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I think it really depends on where you're going. But also, what jeans and what shirt? If you expect a guy to show up in a plaid button-down shirt, designer jeans, and leather boots, but you're meeting at a sports bar... Don't place any high bets on that outfit showing up. Go to a bar on Newbury st in Boston or a bar in Manhattan that's above the ground level.
GunslingerRoland Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I have gone on a few dates recently where I had to ask myself like WTH? Is it too hard to throw on a decent pair of jeans, shirt, and shoes? So I have to ask, what exactly were they wear that a t-shirt and jeans would have been a step up? Anyway, besides dressing nicely. I think what you wear should depend on your regular style but also the environment. If you are going out for fine dining and you think a t-shirt and jeans are appropriate you are clearly clueless on social norms. I wouldn't blame a woman for not wanting to go out with a guy like that. But if you are going to Earls or something like that, and you are a t-shirt and jeans guy, then I think wear your best quality jeans and t-shirt or upgrade the t-shirt to a gold shirt or something...
RedRobin Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I think it important that people demonstrate their authentic selves from day one. If that is his 'look', and you don't like it, then it's best to know up front. I don't wear a ton of makeup, and have clean, tidy nails that are rarely polished. I would never get a special anything just for a date. It seems to attract the outdoorsy, athletic types that I prefer. Just show who you are and don't worry about it.
