Face it: The norm is that The older you get the less people you meet, the less attractive physically you become, the more emotional baggage you will carry, your chances gradually decrease as you age ( or are you the extremely rare anomaly?)

( the norm is you start losing your looks, your body degenerates, you become less social, less attractive in the dating market as you age, the dating pool for long term relationships also decreases)

In all honesty do you think you will do better 10, 20 years from now? possible yes. realistic? you tell me.

The thought of Being ForeverAlone, being perpetually single does what to you?

It's all about your state of mind. Fat old people with a positive attitude/confindence have np attracting a partner.

... or, you could have more wisdom, be more caring, more focused, and less self-centered. Getting older doesn't have to be so negative.

I am already coming to terms with potentially being single the rest of my life. I refuse to date older men (ie more than 5 years is 'older'). I refuse to date men who are out of shape, have substance abuse issues (past or present), not on financial solid ground, or don't share my values (ie not promiscuous and aren't multidaters).

If that's all that is 'left' for me, then I guess I'll be single the rest of my life. Beats spending one day with someone I'm not attracted to or resent.

How does that make me feel? Sad and angry my fiancée died and left me with this shyty dating pool at this point in my life. Other times I'm ok with it and say eff it... I'll buy a sailboat and sail around the world. Nothing stopping me. Just like my tagline says...

Well I can tell you at the age of 41 and not being what I think is considered good looking I"m doing better at dating then i ever have in my life...I joined POF and had 10 or more women wanting to date me...I had to hide my profile cause I was getting in over my head...Not bragging but it blew me away, Im just a small town white boy who works in a factory and I'm getting dates with many women with degrees and amazing careers.. Only thing I have noticed is in this age bracket most girls are out of a bad marriage to a total dick and just want to be cared for by a nice guy..Im really caring and it shows... So Im saying it does not always get harder as you age... I tell you women in the 35 to 40 year range are the best...God bless them. Drops mic....

Yes.

But there is something worse than being single and alone:

being with someone, but feeling trapped, feeling caged, helplessly feeling lonely every waking second, wishing you could escape, wishing to be alone on your own, but instead, aimlessly staring at that long road ahead of you, knowing that's going to be your life, for the rest of your life.

I don't know what's worse: being old and alone with nobody to take care of you, or being old with a family composed of vultures waiting to feed from your carcass.

But then is then and now is now. Your problem is now, so focus on it now.

Its harder for women. Cause men usually go to the younger ones. I'm 25 and I feel like I wasted all my good looking years. How sad.

As a guy... I think getting older is actually HELPING me.

I'm becoming

More social

More confident

Career is expanding thus giving me higher wages

I work out more than I ever did... I get special training now, so I definitely look better

I'm more caring and less selfish than I used to be in the past

More wise and open

yeah.. I'm getting older. But, I appreciate myself much more and for what I have around me.

I would say it's harder for older women. My friend is 39 and he married a women who was 7 years younger. He had to in order to have kids.

I think him being 39 though looking like he's 31-32. He definitely has MORE women and in general people around him like him a lot. I think it's an age becoming more wise and mature thing.

Which is why I don't worry about dating any more.

I'm looking for the RIGHT women... not necessarily any women.

Quality over Quantity is my personal rule.

Call me the rare anomaly then. I'm mid forties and have achieved my best body ever. The thought of being eternally single was filling me with possibilities and delight actually. Although I had to say that yes the prospects in my age bracket were getting slim, in terms of what I wanted.

Lucky for me Mr Buddhist is 15yrs younger, my emotional baggage was offloaded at the same train station my last partner was. And because I was so looking forward to being single the universe decided it was time to put a spanner in that works, and partnered me.:love: Now all I need is an unexpected pregnancy and the completely screwing up my life plan, is complete. :p

That is sad, because you're 25 and think you're washed up. I feel sorry for you. It's got nothing to do with biology but your own mental state.

If you got money none of the above matters. If you don't then you have to be very open-minded and not have strict standards.

Great post. I'm 35+ and feel I look better now than I did in my 20s. I've grown a lot and feel more polished. I want a younger woman mainly because I want to have a family someday and someone 35+ either has kids from a prior relationship or cant have kids due to health risks or just don't want them.

I feel the tables have turned in my favor as I've aged. In my 20s I had no money, was just starting out job wise, and was just about like every other 20 something guy. In my 30s, now I've separated myself from the pack. I got money, home, car, no debt, and can pick and choose whom I want to date.

The hot 20 something year old girls not giving me time in my 20s now are giving me time in my 30s.

Men do have the advantage as they age if they take of themselves physically and financially.

What is wrong with you people? This frame of mind is exactly why you end up alone.

Focus on loving and fulfilling yourself and the rest shall come. It's not about degenerating looks and emotional baggage, it's about growth and wisdom. About learning life's lessons and being the better for it.

Speak for yourself. I'm far better now that I've ever been, regardless my looks, age and social abilities (which by the way get better, not worse, with time).

I suppose all I can say is, if you think it so, then so it shall be.

lol no

I make close to about a deuce, drive a beautiful luxury sports sedan, have a pretty nice house in a great area (although it's only about 2,000 sqr feet, I figured anything more for 1 person would be a waste), no debt, wear very trendy clothes, go to nice restaurants/bars, etc... and I've never had a girlfriend. I'm 26 years old BTW. Nothing wrong at all with how I look either.

if you are 25 making 150k that is impressive, if you are 45 making 150k.... ehhhh.....

I don't know where you live, but i don't even flinch unless a person is driving a 100k car.

if a girl has no money yes money will matter if a woman is making good money... you better be able to make it rain and be good looking romantic, in shape etc etc.

The other way of looking at is is that you are free. Half of the marriage end up in divorce and add to that a good chunk of men and women unhappilly married but frightened of being alone. Very few people are actually 'foreveralone' (I know about that internet meme) aside from people who were let down by their own family for a reason and who never ever made friends. And even them might be working and have to go to the mall/grocery.

Foreveralone to me is more Tom Hanks on his Island, Will Smith in NY with zombies or more recently Matt Damon on Mars.

I get the point the OP is making... Celibacy can become a choice when aging after having been in love and burned etc.

either you were ill, or just lazy when you were young,

compare a 20 year old woman to a 40 year old, who generally has a better body?

research it, look around you, it is a fact of life. Pam Anderson to name just one woman was way better and had many more choices 20 years ago than now.

in major metro areas it is common place. People have climbed the corporate ladder by that time. have years of experience.

the typical buyer for a s500 mercedes is a 50 year old white dude.

maybe that guy can be a sugar daddy, only if he is ready to spend money not because he is a great catch otherwise

No wonder you're single.... Do you have any idea how bitter and nasty that statement above sounds? Especially as you don't know me and have no idea what I look like but are just having a knee jerk reaction to something that doesn't fit in your closed world view.

I was neither. I am just living proof that caring for yourself pays off. I do compare myself to 20yr olds daily. I work with them, and what was surprising even to me is how much better my physical shape is compared to them. Because I make the effort, apparently my partner agrees.

But if you want to stick with the idea that age = decline, so be it. Have fun with that.
