Hypothetically speaking; if I paid you $5,000,000 in exchange for you not to have any sort of dating , sex , intimacy . would you do it?

 

$5,000,000 is a lot of money. Not infinite, but more than most people will ever have.

 

You can have great life by yourself right ?

 

Friendship allowed . but no romance whatsoever.

No way in hell. On their deathbed, nobody laments that they didn't have more money in life. The most important things in life by far are the love you share, the people you touch.

When you break it down, for me personally anyway, all the joy in my life comes from the people I spend my life with, with a significant part coming from those I have been/am in a romantic relationship with.

 

Thinking back to all my fondest memories, the memories themselves would be almost worthless if the people/person I shared them with wasn't a part of it.

 

So yeh, absolutely no way I would take the money.

 

I would without hesitation choose to be homeless with someone I love who loves me back than be exceedingly wealthy but lonely.

For me it would be absolutely worth it to never have to feel the bitterness of rejection again.

 

I can live a good life with that money, I can help many people, spread quite a bit of joy and at the end of the day that fact, combined with the fact I can experience great things would be enough for me.

 

Unfortunately we are all human and the desire to be wanted can never really go away, not even with money though I do believe money can dull that desire somewhat.

I would take the money. I am living that type of life now and with pool narrowing as we age, I am not holding my breath.. Money would enable me to travel, do charity work and enjoy my single life to the max.

Assuming that I don't have to do anything so low (having sex for money is out of the question) then yes I would accept the money.

 

I would use it to start my own business and start as late as after 10 am, no longer being forced to get up early in the morning nor work long hours. I'll then probably be travelling and doing things I couldn't do before.

While it is tempting, I would pass on it.

 

The only thing I need in my life now is a worthy companion and lots of sex. Money is not an issue for me, especially since I am frugal.

The other stuff, having experienced it all, is so nebulous that, yup, no problem, sign me up. I wouldn't recommend it to a younger guy though. IMO, better to experience the breadth of life before opting out of aspects of it. Live it to the full.

Impossible in my case. I'm known for not being frugal when having fun. The number of women that would fly out of the woodwork would dazzel the mind. No way I could hold up my end of the bargain.

If you had $5,000,000 to spare you would already have your fill of fake friendships so there wouldn't be any need to waste the money.

 

Would I take it, no.. in this world we live in you get what you pay for and I can't imagine what a friendship worth $5,000,000 would cost me in the end..

I think I'd take the money. $5M invested properly could do a LOT of good for people (and myself).

 

I know it's a hypothetical but I'd be interested to see how "my end" of the deal would be enforced? Would I be lobotomized to no longer have sexual/romantic urges? If that were the case, I really wouldn't know what I was missing.

 

Or would I still have urges but be constantly monitored by some black ops folks who would put a bullet in my brain if I so much as typed a flirty email to someone? Come to think of it...that would be a pretty stressful life.

 

I retract my acceptance pending the answer to my question.

Good point. Consistence compliance could be facilitated two ways, perhaps in combination. One, castration (for males). Two, implants in the brain which sense brain chemistry and electrical patterns consistent with body changes which occur with sexual and romantic thoughts. Imagine everything from a turgid penis/clitoris to pupils dilating to whatever; then the processor applies pain receptor stimulation. Think of it as the reverse of the process in 'Terminal Man', an old Michael Crichton novel. After awhile, one can learn to avoid romantic/sexual thoughts or, if trending to masochism, enjoy the pain. Heh.

No, I wouldn't even consider it. I mean, don't get me wrong, $5million dollars is a fair bit of money, but it's not ridiculously rich. I could invest and live off of $250K a year. Yeah that's a comfortable lifestyle, but the idea of giving up romance for a little over double what I make now... and sure I wouldn't have to work, but that's a lot of hours to fill without a partner.

Nope. Love is the best drug for me. Perhaps for 5 million per day though. Then I'd invest most of it in social projects and animal welfare and environment protection.

Uh yeah that changed the game entirely! I was counting on being able to masterbate...constantly...while watching mid-1990s episodes of Baywatch.

It's like going off the bottle, since sex is far more powerful in the mind than any drug. No sexual thoughts allowed. Allow masturbation and one can easily fall off the wagon. Slippery slope to all kinds of things that could result in, horrors, a romantic relationship. Heh.
