There is this girl in my class who doesn't enjoy it because she has no one to talk to. One day, we were all working with friends so she didn't really know anyone and was sitting alone at her table. I decided to go sit next to her (we knew each other from prior classes, we talk from time to time but we were "friends'). So I sat down and told her jokingly no one liked me at my table so I sat down here and she just smiled. Then, I asked her if she was going trick-or-treating and we talked a bit about her religion and why she couldn't. Then, I made some statement and we kinda got in a debate and realized it was stupid and laughed it off. We also talked about current classes and former, how we felt about them, and how we were doing so far in the school year. Then, some guys from a different table made a remark about me flirting (?) which I have no idea if she heard or not. Also, I sat next to her and our desks were pushed apart because of the kid that sat there before, and then she made a remark about how "she hated the space because it was annoying", essentially asking me to move the desk back so we were literally sitting next to each other with like 3 inches to spare. Then it just got awkward.

Was she flirting with me or am I thinking too much?

I don't know that she was flirting because I don't think her social development has matured that far. I'm not knocking her (or you) but pointing out that growing up is a process. I do think she was grateful to you for reaching out & including her. I applaud you for being brave enough to do that. Keep being sweet to her & see how / where this evolves.

Then, I asked her if she was going trick-or-treating and we talked a bit about her religion and why she couldn't.

 

Avoid like the plague. She probably cant date men that are outside of her religion or have pre-martial sex.
