What is so bad about that? I like to be intimate with a woman and sometimes I feel I can cook better than many restaurants so I prefer to ear in sometimes.

Well there are different types of intimacy. ;)

I asked a guy on OLD what his interests are and his reply was "intimacy and eating in."

Yeah it was pretty clever, but better would have been :

intimacy and eating in, then maybe a bit of eating out...

OP, consider the source. OLD ( which im assuming is an acronym for online dating). There is going to be a plethora of people that don't have a clue about dating...thats what brought them there.

More times then not, during my stints with OLD I meet women that are "world traveled", "scholarly" "comes from the best family ever."...just to take them out to find out its all a facade...

I hear all the time than OLD is now mainstream, and that the people doing it are no longer weirdos or losers.

Then I read these kind of posts....

I've given OLD the bullet, apart from a bit of Tinder for entertainment.

Man, sounds like a real winner. I mean, I'm sure we all enjoy intimacy, but who the hell considers that a 'hobby'!?! That's like saying 'my hobbies are sleeping and eating'. Sure I enjoy sleeping and eating, and I'll bet most people do too, but I'd hope that most of us have more things going on in our lives than that!

"Cooking" is a legitimate hobby and one that can actually be quite attractive in men. "Eating in", not so much... implies that someone else will be doing the cooking.

I just... I don't even... wtf?!

I've suffered from existential depression pretty much my whole life.

This line probably is by far the most eloquently phrased perceptive statement that describes how I feel about my LIFE and how I feel everyday.

I'm interested in those things too. He could have been joking and he could have been serious. If he had said, I enjoy cooking and reading about/studying human relations, would that have been better?

He had seemed normal up to that point, average conversation. Very weird answer, no?

I've replied in a similar way a few times.

Why? Because I was getting bored with the conversation, and talking about my interests is just really... boring. Maybe I didn't find our exchange interesting enough and wanted to shake some life into the conversation.

The best conversations (for me) are when you hit it off with how you *genuinely* feel about how you are supposed to be.

"intimacy and eating in" could have been a test. Is he good looking? Did you take it in stride?

These are legit interests in life.

In the context of early dating contact, it clearly says, "I am not interested in going on dates with you. I am interested in having you over for sex."
