Is there a way to get over the counter contraceptives (pills) without having to get a prescription, much less without having to leave the country to do it?

What country do you live in?

Emergency contraception is available without a prescription in the US. But the daily hormonal pills I am pretty sure require a visit to a doc.

Planned Parenthood is great for low/no cost BC Pills. Or other family planning clinics.

If you just absolutely cannot see a doctor get a diaphragm and use contraception jelly and enforce the male to wear a condom.

Even with BC Pills, make the male wear a condom.

I live in the U.S. and oh yes, I definitely plan to make him wear protection as well. I just didn't feel like going through the whole thing about a doctor just a get birth control pills. I think it's ridiculous and overkill just to ensure whatever it is they're trying to ensure. I know what works for me and I hate the idea of someone else choosing that for me. Does planned Parenthood have actually BC pills or just Emergency Contraception?

The reason you need to talk to a medical practitioner before getting a prescription for BC is because it could KILL you if you don't get the right one for your medical and family history. If you think that's 'ridiculous and overkill' that's your prerogative, but unfortunately they have to protect people like you from yourself.

Why are you so against seeing someone for your prescription? Also AFAIK it doesn't have to be a doctor, nurses who work in family planning clinics can prescribe BC.

What they're trying to ensure is that you don't end up stroking out or having another very negative but potentially fatal reaction to taking estrogen and progesterone. It might seem like taking hormones is no big deal but they are associated with some pretty significant negative outcomes particularly in patients who are at high risk for them. It's for your benefit.

I'll look into that. Thanks!
