bbcc10192 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) I'm a 23 year old male and I created a tinder account on Saturday night. I was in my hometown for the weekend, which is a pretty small place where everyone knows each other. Therefore I didn't really do much swiping over the weekend, as I just felt it was awkward when I knew a lot of the people on there; on the one hand I didn't want to know who from my hometown rejected me, on the other hand I didn't want to get an awkward mutual match with someone I know. In truth though, I didn't see much point swiping right too often as I'll be returning to the big city where I work tomorrow. However, I did swipe right around 35 times, and just got one match. It didn't progress any further as she didn't write back. I'm returning to the city where I live tomorrow, so I'm going to start properly swiping tomorrow night. Therein lie my inquiries: (1) Will tinder automatically update my location to the city in which I'm living? (2) I have heard there is a limit of 100 swipes per session. Does that mean you're allowed to swipe right to (aka 'like') 100 people? Or does it mean you're only allowed to swipe 100 times, be it right or left? (3) Typically, how long does it take before you know for certain if you have a number of matches? Obviously some people might not log in for days... but does one typically have an idea 24 hours after a swipe session? Thanks in advance! Edited October 26, 2015 by bbcc10192
RightThere Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (1) Will tinder automatically update my location to the city in which I'm living? Yes. It's all GPS driven based on where you physically are. (2) I have heard there is a limit of 100 swipes per session. Does that mean you're allowed to swipe right to (aka 'like') 100 people? Or does it mean you're only allowed to swipe 100 times, be it right or left? Yes. Not sure what the limit is, but after a certain number of "likes" you need to wait 24 hrs I think. I think it also prevents spam bots. Plus pushes a bit of the premium membership. (3) Typically, how long does it take before you know for certain if you have a number of matches? Obviously some people might not log in for days... but does one typically have an idea 24 hours after a swipe session? If you match, it let's you know immediately.
Author bbcc10192 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 If you match, it let's you know immediately. Ok, but what I mean is - If I was to go on tinder tomorrow in my new location, swipe right 100 times, and end up with no matches.... Is there a chance those people I swiped right to might not have been online in a few hours and therefore might not have seen me yet? If I was to log off after my session and go on say 5 hours later, or even one day later.... could I have matches by then? If you get what I'm saying.
Author bbcc10192 Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 So I arrived back to the city I work in (which is a good 3 hour drive from my hometown)....and I accessed wifi on my phone. Logged into tinder 20 minutes ago for the first time in this location, and have just finished swiping right over 100 times. No matches yet... Does that mean they have come across me and said no? Or will I give it a few hours to a day to get a more accurate idea?
