SmartDude Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I was heading to the checkout line at my local grocery store and a GORGEOUS woman smiled at me in a way that melted me like butter. We were headed to the same line and she smiled at me and told me to go ahead of her. I had an opportunity to talk to her and I froze up and said nothing! Swear there was some wicked chemistry/attraction going on there but no, I had to freeze up right at that moment. Just great. I want to bang my head on concrete before I put my groceries away. Maybe that will help. Why do women always make moves on guys in grocery stores? That is when I am least prepared.
xcupid Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Maybe she didn't put the moves on you at all. Smiling at someone isn't putting the moves on them. 2

There, you can: 1) check her rump 2) make sure she is USDA approved. 3)"butter" her up 4)tell her she is a sweet potato 5)Do the salsa in the aisle with the Doritos 6)ask her if she likes hot dogs 7)compliment her on her angel hair in the pasta aisle and most of all… use the speedy checkout
jen1447 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I don't know if you're the sort who normally or occasionally gets hit on by beautiful women, but in the case of guys who aren't, sometimes not saying or doing anything is the best thing you can do when you're smiled at. (Aside from smiling back I mean and being generally dignified and polite.) Sometimes when hot women smile at ppl it means nothing, and that moment when they have to ponder if their act of basic decency will come back to bite them in the form of undesired flirting and/or awkward hitting upon can be grim. On the flip side, a guy who doesn't immediately act like he's just been given a winning lottery ticket in response to a smile and just acts like a decent person in return may be very much appreciated. He won't be getting laid but at least he won't be thought of with a sad groan either. fwiw. 4
Author SmartDude Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 I don't know if you're the sort who normally or occasionally gets hit on by beautiful women Actually I am. But that is not my problem tonight. The problem is that I usually go to the grocery store just to buy groceries. I don't expect women that I would date to be casually strolling about.

Man I do this too, especially when I lock eyes with a gorgeous guy, it's like my tongue is all tied and my brain is shut down.
fitnessfan365 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Grocery stores are fun because of that. I've dated a few women I met in grocery stores. I've also been hit on a few times as well. I remember once when I was coming in late to do my shopping and three girls bagging stared me down. Then later when I came up, one asked me if I found everything I needed, When I said yes, another one said "Are you sure" being flirty and holding strong eye contact. Sadly none were my type..LOL If they had been though, I would've asked for help out to my car. Haha But the most memorable for me is this. There was a girl behind me w/a pint of ice cream. I had a full cart. So I smiled at her and said "Melted ice cream is no fun. Go ahead of me". After that she thanked me repeatedly, and kept looking back, holding eye contacting, playing w/her hair, etc.., Then as she was leaving, she maintained eye contact walking backwards, I felt like she wanted me to take her right there on the conveyor belt. She was less than 100lbs soaking wet, so too skinny for me. But it was amazing to me how simple common courtesy could have such an effect on a woman.
Guyouthere Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 might pay to be a bagger at a grocery store. lol
kendahke Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 The only man to ever approach me at the grocery store started screaming at me saying "I'll bet you only date black guys" and then glaring at me--he was seething with anger. I was looking for some super green food smoothie in the refrigerator case when he started screaming. Had to call security, I thought he was going to assault me in the store. So I'd be interested on where exactly these great guys in the grocery store are and what day do they do their grocery shopping. 1

MightyPen Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 OP, if you want to prevent hot women from approaching you at the grocery, let me give you some advice. Wear a shirt and tie (not a suit though!) to the grocery and bring a notebook/list with you. Instead of hot young women, you will be approached by elderly women asking if the creamed corn is on Aisle 7.

I've actually been accused of the exact same thing, only not at the grocery store.
kendahke Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 It was at Mrs. Gooch's in Glendale, CA when it used to be on Glendale Blvd at Glenoaks (Whole Foods bought it and moved it further west down the street). I had to get them to walk me to my car because I didn't know if he was in the parking lot waiting on me with a shank.
Vintage79 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I'd actually go to grocery stores to meet women all the time - you see the same people at the same location at more or less the same time week after week (i.e. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m.), as people have a routine about their groceries, so you can get chat with them a few times before trying to get a date with them - it makes things super easy, and people are way more friendly than at a bar/club. Anyhow - OP - as a general FYI - it's pretty hard to have real chemistry with someone if you can't talk with them. Why is chatting with someone in a casual, no-stress environment hard? It's not like you need a serious pick-up game at a grocery store to have a casual conversation with someone in line, who is opening the door for you and begging you to come through (apparently)...
oregon0011 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Actually a friend told me that if a woman does find you attractive she will look away and NOT flirt. It all depends on the woman. Similarly how many men might find it easier to smile and be friendly to an elderly lady, someone totally not attractive, but might sort of freeze up or look away when infront of a 10.

It does all depend on the woman, but that's generally not true except for very shy women. Usually women show attraction outwardly thru smiles and 'available' body language, etc.

I guess when women flirt they smile, but the advice is to not flirt with them.. jen1447 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Yes, the two things aren't mutually exclusive. (Altho you're likely to get more positive body language from actual flirting. Smiles are standard for a lot of women.) 1
