violetdiamond Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 So I got such great advice from my last thread on here that I figured I start a new one for my next question lol. Long story short, I am still in touch with a guy I met and hooked up with while traveling this summer in Italy. We've been in touch since July with messages and occasional phone calls and recently we've been skyping and talking more. I'm 31 and he is 39 and I definitely have developed feelings for him. He has consistently said the whole time we've known each other that he wants to come and visit me in the USA. He mentions it every time we talk. He originally said he wanted to come in October, then he said November would probably be better. He said he is waiting for the right time to buy the ticket, that he is hoping it will be soon, and that he wants to make me happy. My question is this: should I ask him to be more specific and to tell me a specific date/time when he is coming? It is almost November, and I feel like odds are he probably won't be coming in November either (it would be expensive to buy a plan ticket so last minute I imagine). He does work a job with unpredictable hours, so I understand how that might affect his plans. I really, really want him to come and visit but I don't want to get my hopes up. I don't want to keep waiting and waiting for someone who isn't really planning on coming and get my heart broken. I also don't like feeling like I am putting my life "on hold" while I wait for him to know when he is coming. What do you guys think? Would it be inappropriate/pushy for me to ask for something more specific at this point in terms of travel plans to visit me? As always, thanks so much!
d0nnivain Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I don't see a problem with asking for specifics. At least you will know. I'd be surprised if you get a straight answer. I'd be cautious if you get a request for financial assistance.
Lois_Griffin Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 It sounds like he's a whole lotta talk - and no action. Sure you can push for a timeframe. He'll probably say January - then not follow through. 1
