Does love conquer all or should I ask, without love can we conquer all?

I've been thinking why some people fall in love, get into trouble, and eventually part ways. I hear people say "Being with you is the only thing I want but we can't make it work", "love isn't enough to solve our issues" etc.

People who gave up on their relationships without trying the hardest, did they fail because love wasn't strong enough to motivate them to try harder? I am a firm believer that anything can happen if we *sincerely* want it to. When people say I love you but I can't be with you, is the love actually gone?

love is not the only thing i find myself needing... i need respect. If i don't have respect... my warm feelings and tender emotions soon die a slow painful death. Love is not enough for some people. Love can be a prison and a nightmare. Love can be suffering in agony at the realization there is no mutual respect. No TRUE CARE. Love is in partnership... like most things in life.

I can't love someone who lacks respect.
