Guyouthere Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Ok, I can't say that this is going to sound "right", but it is an observation I made over time…. actually many years even. This one is really for the ladies…. Do you ever cough to get a guys attention? Maybe it is a subconscious action. I have noticed that a lot of times, women near me will cough. No, I am not an allergy to them. lol Just wondering if they do this to get a guy looking their way. And it has worked with me in the past, but never 'took advantage" of any flirting given I always had a woman in my life (when I chose).

sparkles_and_me Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I have never done this too to get attention from a guy I like.
todreaminblue Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 if anything i would try not to cough...to the point of choking......who wants to be coughed at ...i prefer just to smile..........deb 1
Toodaloo Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 No never. Normally I smile then get stupidly shy and glance away... That or if I am feeling brave I find a way to say hello... 1
Author Guyouthere Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Ok, thanks. I should have added this happens a lot when I first pass near them (like first few seconds), so not after we have been "near" each other for a few minutes. I dunno, perhaps I am a bag of dust. lol
Michelle ma Belle Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Nope. There are plenty of other things I might do to get a guy's attention but coughing never even occurred to me. I don't think I would ever use that "technique" in the future either. Sorry GOT.

I am thinking that it might very well be a subconscious response, so the person doing it wouldn't be aware they are
Gaeta Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I should have added this happens a lot when I first pass near them (like first few seconds), so not after we have been "near" each other for a few minutes. Maybe your cologne is too strong ;-) No I have never done that and would not. 4
Michelle ma Belle Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Maybe your cologne is too strong ;-) No I have never done that and would not. I'll second this. I don't have any major allergies BUT there are some scents, especially perfumes and colognes that cause me to cough. What kind do you usually wear when you go out?
GemmaUK Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I can't even see this as being a subconscious thing as all it would display is lack of health. Maybe your cologne is too strong ;-) Yes, that would make me cough.
Author Guyouthere Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Maybe your cologne is too strong ;-) No I have never done that and would not. I do wear mens Polo cologne though, but this happens when I am not pretty close to them, and when I am not looking either. I really do think this is a subconscious action. I also read that many women will also have "flared eyes and nostril" too when they first look up at you when looking at something else. That is a documented subconscious reaction. There are at least 2 women coworkers of mine that do this, and on a regular basis. I know at least one of them had practically begged me to take her out in the past, she most definitely flirted with me openly, even touching me a lot. The other I saw just last night, she always has that reaction as well, although I am not interested in her because she is too immature.
Revan32 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 One time standing in line at a Wendy's, a girl walked up to me and started coughing. Hocked up a huge loogie and spit it on the ground. Was having sex in the bathroom 3 minutes later. I say its a definite, and you should go for it! A good line to start with, "I noticed you were coughing in my direction, I find aggressive women attractive and would like to continue this relationship." 1
GemmaUK Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Flared nostrils is actually a fight of flight response and is in order to allow more oxygen into the lungs to prepare for one or the other. Coughing could be the same thing. If you have good interpersonal relationships with those who do this though then I would actually seriously be careful of how much cologne you are using as that also would inspire the same effect. I was in a restaurant the other day and actually experienced the nostril flare because I noticed the place smelt strongly of fish and I found it very off putting.
autumnnight Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Nope, never done it. And since no woman on here has said she does, I think we can rule out subconscious action. And FTR...even from across the room Polo makes my eyes burn.

Next time you go out on the town, change up your cologne and see if it continues. Good luck. 1

I think the most obvious body language you can trust if a woman likes you is her playing with her hair and her hips being directed toward you.
Mystique01 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Lol....No I can't say that I have! Never coughed to get a guy's attention, but sometimes if I'm in a group of friends I'll act more "animated" and be more laughing and talking a little louder than usual in order to catch his attention lol.
Michelle ma Belle Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Next thing we know someone will ask if farting is something we do to get a man's attention 2
lil hoodlum Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Coughing to get attention? Really? Well then there must be a lot of coughing going on around Brad Pitt or George Clooney.
kilgore Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Next thing we know someone will ask if farting is something we do to get a man's attention Everyone knows about that one

Oh, well, I have noticed this even without being in the room for more than a few seconds, or even being upwind of them. If it was unconscious, they wouldn't know they were actually doing it though
