Hi Everyone -

This is my first post in the forum. I'm glad this community exists.

I (U.S. citizen) was married in August, 2012 in Nevada, USA. My wife (Czech citizen who had been living in the U.S. since 2004) and I then moved to the Czech Republic.

We obtained a Czech marriage certificate. Earlier this year, our divorce became final here in the CZE. I now have a CZE divorce certificate (with an English translation and an apostille stamp from the Ministry of Justice).

Can anyone help me with the process of finalizing the divorce in the U.S. I'll be traveling to the U.S. for the holidays and would like to take care of the U.S. divorce process then.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Most jurisdictions require residency, though it can be as little as six weeks in Nevada. If you don't mind going back to the state you were married in and having a nice vacation there, you can get a recognized dissolution right there.

Check into getting a dissolution in Guam, especially if you and your ex were agreeable. Travel may not be required at all and it should be recognized in all 50 US states.
