Fair Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Have any of you ever just wanted to say 'hi' to someone you haven't seen for a long time on Facebook? The equivalent of a virtual wave, without the desire to 'catch up on old times' or reignite the friendship/relationship? I have been considering doing this but I'm hesitating because I don't want to start anything... I don't even want to talk to this person enough to give them details about my life... I want strictly just to say 'hello..." I suppose for the sake of being remembered... but that's all. I had a friendship with this guy more than 12 years ago. When I left the city I left without telling anyone or letting anyone know where I was going... I wanted to start over new and I did. I guess I've always felt bad about it. Would it look strange if I did this? What would you think if someone popped up out of nowhere just to say hi, but that's all?... would you make assumptions? I don't want to make the wrong impression. Advice?
JustGettingBy Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 A 'hi' with no context would likely feel weird, but a 'long time no see, how've things been?' might be better.
Author Fair Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) I want to avoid that. I want to keep my privacy intact... I'm not entirely sure what I want, truthfully. I've been feeling lonely, and disconnected... I just want someone to remember I exist without having to let him know all about me... just leave him a friendly message and leave it at that.
