I went on a date with an old highschool boyfriend from 7 years ago.

He looks different, I'm usually physically attracted to tall, muscley/lean bulky guys.

This guy was average height, chubby and had a beard and crooked teeth.

He was sweet and pretty confident in himself and I enjoyed our coffee date.

I'm just freaking out abit because I'm usually not physically attracted to a man like that but I can't stop thinking about him.

Has this happened to anyone? Why do I like him?

Maybe your attracted to something looking beyond his physical appearance.

Sometimes the wish list just goes out of the window - I've been out with someone who ticked all boxes on paper but I just wasn't feeling it, and then someone who didn't fit what I thought I wanted, and suddenly I'm feeling all fuzzy and intrigued. Attraction can be complicated.

Were you attracted to him in high school? Why are you freaking out? Attraction is good. Be happy there IS attraction.

He was your boyfriend in high school. Was he taller back then? :D

Teeth can be straightened, beard can be shaves off, personality... you have it or you don't.

I say roll with it, sounds like you really like him... Enjoy it and see where it goes :-)

you've matured, right? time and age make you focus less on superficial qualities. and he represents a (hopefully) good part of your life and youth, so dating him will lead to associations with high school and memories of that time. that is why couples who meet in high school and then marry often have very long and happy marriages.. they are reminders of youth and happiness to one another. give him a chance if you're open to it...
