jam.over.jelly Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm not sure if this topic would be appropriate to be in "Dating", but I don't know where else should I post it in. Lol So I love, love lipsticks. Different colors, bold ones, and not so bold ones. Fall is coming and I've been wearing red (mostly dark red) lipstick, dark plum, basically bolder colors. But I wonder if guys find it off putting when a girl wears bold color lipstick, especially if a girl wears it on the first date? 1
JustGettingBy Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm not a fan, but more so for personal taste than anything. As long as I was having fun with her, it wouldn't be an issue.
h0000 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I love the look too but I wouldn't want to kiss it...imagine all the lipstick I eat or I get on my face
Author jam.over.jelly Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 I love the look too but I wouldn't want to kiss it...imagine all the lipstick I eat or I get on my face Haha, I can understand. One guy friend told me that if a girl wears red lipstick, it just means she doesn't want to be kissed. Ughhh. I love wearing red lipstick though especially when it can compliment my outfit, but I also wanna be kissed! haha. Going out on a spontaneous date with a guy tomorrow night and I am debating if I should wear red lipstick. 1

bluefeather Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Lipstick color is about the last thing on my mind when looking at a woman. 3
losangelena Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I like it, too, but it's a single girl's accessory. I've never met a man who wants to go in for a kiss on a mouth that's fully made up. It gets a bit messy. 1
Author jam.over.jelly Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Maybe you can choose a mat red colour, rather than the shiny one. I never wear shiny lipsticks anymore. All mat. LIke this http://s27.postimg.org/lftodf143/6tag_285539898_873652092576500969_285539898_Ed.jpg 2
shet Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I love women who are good with makeup and bold. It fascinates me the effort they go to - for all the lengths the modern world wishes us to narrow the difference between the sexes, use of cosmetics are a radical difference. Few things displease me more on a date than badly done makeup - rather they go barefaced. My favourite date this year was with a woman who wore a fuchsia lip. You know she isn't quiet and shy. If I dated you and you wore red I wouldn't be thinking about you not wanting kisses, I'd just be thinking "Wow". 1

Or you can maybe wear a bit less of your red lipstick. Or heck just go with whatever you like and have fun lol
Rephinican Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Ahhhh lipstick. My girlfriend likes lipstick as well. Me? Not as much. It's okay I guess. It's messy when I try to kiss her, and I swear that she absolutely loves to leave those full-red lip marks on the most embarrassing places when we have to go somewhere or see my family . Aesthetically, I can say I like lipstick. Practically, I like to kiss my girlfriend a lot. And she kisses me. Probably even more. Lipstick+frequent kissing= lots of lipstick marks all over my body and not much lipstick left on her lips (and maybe some on my lips, my neck, my hand, etc. Not that I mind all that much, it's more like everyone else does...) Also, I like the feeling of my girlfriend's lips more when she's not wearing lipstick. I feel like lipstick might be something that most guys like to SEE but not something that some guys want to feel or want making marks all over them.

However it doesn't compliment my skin tone so I don't ever wear it. But thank you for your perspective. Wish more guys would be appreciative of make up like you are. Haha.

I feel like if I wear bold colors they better be bold, or I would wear something else, more tamed, more natural.
Mrin Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 +1 on liking red lipstick. I don't mind color at all as long as it isn't a weird color and it complements her features/coloration. That pinky orange color is a no-no though. Nothing says crazy cat lady like that color... Except for a bunch of cats.
Author jam.over.jelly Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Yea....well, to think about it, maybe I ll just play it safe tomorrow and NOT wear red lipstick, who knows I might end up kissing the guy and it would be a pain to have to wipe my lips off and recolor it again.
lollipopspot Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 My favourite date this year was with a woman who wore a fuchsia lip. "Wore a fuchsia lip." Do you read women's fashion magazines or something? Blech - I'm embarrassed that I even know that phrasing!
RedRobin Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I say save the fancy lip colors for when you are on display and don't need to use your lips.
RoseWater Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 You need to focus on what you like not on what some man you've not even met yet might prefer 1
craw Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Wish more guys would be appreciative of make up like you are. Haha. No thank you, there are plently metrosexual men out there. So much that I can't assume most men are straight anymore and have bi tendencies. Honestly, guys don't give a ****. They might only care of you wear too much make up and then he wakes up the next day and sees a different person. I've met women who are with men that probably give them frightful wake up call, but the men get used to it.
autumnnight Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Honestly most men who say "I don't like makeup" really mean they don't like it to "look like" the woman is wearing makeup. Even the women in face cleansing commercials who look like they have no no makeup have on makeup. That clean, fresh-faced, natural look....is still makeup. It's kind of funny actually. 3
O'Malley Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Different guys will have differing opinions. Some will find red lips sexy. Others won't care as long as you don't resemble a clown. One thing I've observed is that many men tend to prefer a more natural look - which in some cases is just subtly applied make up that enhances features without overpowering them.
Gloria25 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Well, it depends on what constitutes a "red" to you and the brand of lipstick you use. I mean I've seen reds that to me don't mean "red". Then it's also how it looks on you. I have olive skin and lipstick looks different on the stick, my hand, and lip - which is frustrating cuz when I wanna buy cheap like Revlon, I don't know for sure how it's going to look until I unwrap it after buying it. Like you, I go for darker shades now in fall/winter, but still try to keep it light cuz I feel if it's too much you either look older or like a streetwalker. I think the pic you posted is lovely and your lipstick choice was tasteful. I trust you'll make the right decision. BTW, years ago, I wore a red to work cuz after work I was gonna go on a date and yep, a bit too bold to wear to work. 2
d0nnivain Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm a woman. But like anything else, I think it's a personal preference. Some men will like it. Others won't. Your skin hue plays a part too; not every color looks good on every women. Based on the picture you posted that shade & tone (matte vs high gloss) looks good on you in the photo. Be true to yourself. Do your make up in a way that makes you happy. My DH doesn't care for a lot of lipstick, especially glossy, & won't kiss me on the lips right before we walk out the door for a big event. I'm OK with that because kissing smears lipstick. I have been known to tease him by marking him with big lip prints if I'm being cute later in the night. lol 1
sambolini Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I'm not a fan. Truthfully, it's because I don't like the way it tastes! I think it can look sexy sometimes, but if we're going to be kissing please take it off.
