Ok, you're around 31-32, right?

Forget this look young / look old crap... It is not about looks, it is about mental maturity. This girl is 16-17... Very inappropriate in my opinion. And quite dangerous: she's likely emotionally immature - may flip and accuse you in rape any time if you sleep with her, even if it was with her consent... Not to talk about parents reaction etc. And you may loose your job in a split second for engaging into sexual activities with a minor.

For just friendship... I really really don't see how would you enjoy the company of underdeveloped mentally immature teenager... But it is your choice in the end.

Yes but times are different these days. Funny teens honestly are far more sluttier these days and having sex earlier but are getting married quite later.

I'm over 21. And no I'm not some 35-40 as well.

Also I look young for my age.

And how would your aunts parents approve of that? I mean I could see a father wanting to beat the guys ass thinking he's a creepy.

With today's laws though a 30 year old and a 16 year old is really walking a fine fine line.

I mean just as friends. What is so bad about that?

Also in the movie 'Bad Santa' Bill Bob's character hits on an 18 year old in this scene lol.

Haha, saw it :D

I just don't understand friendship with 18yo-s, I'm 30-31, and even 25yo-s I find intimidatingly young :)

She was off today so I didn't see her. I'll likely see her tomorrow then or Friday.

After I sent that message though which she did read she didn't reply back. How should I act when I see her? Do you think she will mention it? She didn't block me though.

If she didn't reply then it's more than ovbious a no. As for why she didn't block you , at her age she probably wants the more the better Facebook friends. Isn't it what it is about for teenagers? They all crazy about Instagram/Twitter followers

Well she read my message, time stamped but the two most recent ones I sent late last night are just labeled "delivered" so she hasn't read them yet. She's been just on mobile most of the time.

She did read the one about asking her out to hangout about an hour after I sent it so she did read it for sure. She's really cute but she seems friendly which is of course the reason why I wanted to hangout with her!

Won't stop her from thinking you are a pervert

How is that when I never commented about her looks and even told her I just wanted to hangout as "friends."

Because women can read between the lines.

It might not matter what you say or how you say it. If she's not feeling it, she's not going to hang out with you, regardless of how you phrase it.

What do you mean read "between the lines?" I didn't make any suggestive stuff that I have a crush on her or liked her because of her looks since she's like 17.

Are you really dumb or playing dumb? Do you really think you have to have some actual lines to let girls know what you are after? Are you really trying to tell yourself that she wont see what you like? You really think you hide it very well?Your action (asking to hang with her) has revealed your intention out loud.

I said "just as friends" though.

Believe it or not, that made you sound even more desperate to get with her.

A man of your age and your position, friending a 17-year-old of FB, and then private messaging her to ask to hang out "just as friends" is sending the exact opposite message.

She's not interested. Let her hang out with her 17-year-old friends. She may be nice, but that doesn't mean she wants to hang out with you socially or romantically.

Growing up, there was an older single guy who went to my parents' church, and he often was trying to making friends with the teenaged girls. I don't know what his intentions were, but there was definitely an "ick" factor at play.

I don't think it matters what your intentions are; if you're a man and you're old enough to drink and rent a car, you don't need to be friends with anyone whose age begins with the number 1.

so a 21 yr old shouldn't be friends with 17 yr olds hanging out even?

So you're saying you shouldn't have younger COWORKERs as friends on your FB all because they're younger regardless of their sex?

Also the older guy thing I think it all depends on if they look and act really young and not talking like a 40 yr old guy who's balding.

Look at sports players. The older ones date girls a lot younger than them. of course they can choose pretty much any woman they want especially NHL players. NHLers seem to get the hottest girls.

First what 21 yr olds do has nothing to do with you cuz you are not 21. Second just because you may act/look young does not mean you are young. (FYI you shouldn't act like a 21 if you are in fact 31. Grow up maybe?? It's NOT attractive.)

Last what sports players do also has nothing to do with you. You are not even 1/10 rich and handsome as they are. Shallow it may sound, it's true. Forgetaboutit

But you're not 21, are you? We established that the other day. Don't try and pick apart what I said because it isn't what you want to hear. And you don't want to just be FB friends with her, you want to see her outside of work.

Who cares about athletes. You really think the top NHL players are choosing to "hang out" with 17 year olds? Jeebus man, give us a break. You are grasping at straws here.

I think if a sports player dated a 17 yr old he'd be headline on scandal.com

Speaking of NHL players any of you older hockey fans remember the Doug Gilmour incident when he played for the Blues?

Even today on the hockey forums people joke about Gilmour liking the babysitter. Grand Jury didn't indict him but that is really sick if true. I mean that is way too young and gross and criminal.

That is what you call way too young and disgusting.

Anyways when I messaged her a couple days ago asking her to hangout on my FB messenger app it shows "seen at 950pm" by her and her profile pic below it which means they read it.

The next day I sent her two more messages and it still has the checkmark just "delivered" and hasn't been seen yet even though she's been online I've saw and has the app on her phone. Does that mean she likely is ignoring me on purpose by not reading and reply to my last two messages?

She always replied and read my messages up until after I asked her to hangout.

I'm not going to assume you're 30, but I'm thinking you're probably around 25-ish.

Just a thought - it may not be your older age that's keeping her from showing any interest. It's very possible she simply doesn't find you appealing.

And because you've sent her two more messages, you'll now appear unattractive AND creepy to her.
