So I started a new job recently. Low paying and way beneath me but since I moved and needed a job I had to take anything I get until I find a full time one or go to graduate school and keep this part time.

Anyways there is this cutie I like where I work at but one minor issue lol. She's like not 18 yet. I think she's about 17 and I'm over 21 lol. I mean I look way young for my age but still she obviously knows I'm older lol.

She did add me to fb when I sent her a request the other day.

Anyways would it be creepy if I tried hitting on her and that? Could you get fired for her like only being 17 even though technically legal?

I don't know if you could get fired, especially if the legal age of consent in Missouri (which I assume is where you are), but it may be creepy. Why don't you talk to her/get to know her a bit to see if she even likes you. 21 is not that much older.

Actually, NOOOOOPPPEEE.

I just read the rest of that law. If the defendant (that would be you) is 21 or older, then sexual relations would be considered statutory rape.

So, UMM NO, do not pass go; do not collect $200.

You're taking a lot of risks here just because this girl is cute. This is why I think the devil is a woman. You shouldn't date at work or date girls underage. You're allowed to be friends with her why don't you do that for now.

Actually I don't live in MO anymore lol!

And I'm over 21 lol. Well I didn't say I wanted to bang her though. Jeez.

Then why are you posting this question to a dating forum? If you just want to be friends with her, then fine, but when you start tossing out phrases like "hitting on" and "technically legal" it sure sounds like that's where your mind is.

I'm not sure it matters where you live; if you're 21 or over, any sexual contact with a minor is a no-go from a legal perspective. If that isn't your intention, then you should have no problems. A 21 year old is not "creepy" in that regard like a 50-year-old would be.

Anyways I think she's "cute" and hitting, flirting with her and making it obvious to her you like her would that make it seem to her you're like attracted to her? I mean to her would she be thinking you're attracted to her? And would that make her uneasy because of the age? I mean would she be thinking you just want to be friends, or thinking you like want to be involved with her?

I don't know, dude. I haven't been 17 for a long time.

Just get to know her a little bit and see if she's receptive and likes you. I'm not sure, based on your question, if you WANT her to know you're attracted to her or if you want to just have a friend vibe.

Ideally, how do you see this situation going? Do you want to be involved with her?

Me either -- but frankly I wasn't looking for a long term relationship those days.

Why don't you just get to know her as a friend? If there's enough attraction there naturally, that will always be a possibility later on. So far all you know is that you find her attractive. You don't know what she is looking for, whether you guys are a match or not and that sort of thing. Taking the long view seems like a good idea if you are worried about the fact you work together. Also nothing wrong with a little bit of casual flirting.

You can interact with her and even flirt but I'd err on the side of caution as far as dating, hooking up with, or sleeping with goes. Find out when her birthday is, if it's in December then you're near the finish line. If it's next September then maybe focus your attention elsewhere.

Also just another word of caution. If you start talking to her and text each other. Be very very careful and conservative with what you say and send her via text. And also make sure she doesn't send you any pictures before she's 18 either. Never know what her parents have access to or can uncover so the last thing you want is them finding out their dau is sexting or sending risqué pics to an older guy.

Yes but I'm over 21 and she's 17, actually turns 17 couple weeks I think. I mean society wise isn't that like really frowned upon because they're under 18? I mean if I was honest with her and told her I kinda like her and that would she find that creepy or tell her parents a guy older is into her?

How much over 21 are we talking here? Five, ten years?

And why are you being so evasive about it?

This is an anonymous forum.

So how old *are* you?

I don't know really. I think 17 and 21 are quite close in age and by the time she is 18, she is legally an adult anyway. So maybe be cautious but I dunno, as long as you are treading carefully and proceeding with the right intentions, I don't see the problem. My aunt married a guy twice her age, whom she met at 16.

I didn't even pick up on this, Katie! I just saw the number 21 and assumed.

Yes, I'm curious now, how much older are you?

He keeps stressing he is OVER 21.

So again OP, how much older?

My guess is you are ALOT older, otherwise he would not be so evasive about it.

Like maybe even 20 years older!

Now THAT would be creepy.

Yes but times are different these days. Funny teens honestly are far more sluttier these days and having sex earlier but are getting married quite later.

I'm over 21. And no I'm not some 35-40 as well.

Also I look young for my age.

And how would your aunts parents approve of that? I mean I could see a father wanting to beat the guys ass thinking he's a creepy.

With today's laws though a 30 year old and a 16 year old is really walking a fine fine line.

What's the big secret then?

Are you over 30?

Why not just tell us, why make us guess?

How can you expect honest feedback, if you don't tell us your age? Seems silly.

Anyway, FWIW, I think if you are 30+, 17 is too young!

Well how about you just stay far, far away from that line, then?

I would say anything older than about 5 years her senior is starting to get into creepy territory.

Besides, you refer to teens as a whole as "sluttier," which again just makes me think you've got an eventual end goal in mind with this girl.

May I suggest a WOMAN closer to your age?

A dude who likes a "cute, hot chick" isn't looking just for friendship. Secondly, she's way too young for a guy "over 21". Start looking for someone in your own age range. And thirdly, even if it's legal on whatever planet you live, it's still creepy. And yes, you might get fired too. Come on, get real here.

Yea I'm more than 5 years older then her. I'm not in college anymore and don't know anyone around here other than work and most of the girls there are young like this, or like retired aged.

I've tried online dating before and all those sites were ripoffs and the usual fake profiles. Online dating sucks for men. Hardly ever get a reply and I'm not ugly or fat.

I understand that it can be difficult to meet people; we all face different challenges, but I don't think you're going to find a solution to your problem by trying to get close to your underage co-worker.

From your OP, it doesn't sound like your current circumstances are very ideal. I'd say concentrate on getting yourself in a better place—better job, grad school, etc—until you start trying to date. If you're horny, there are other ways to take care of that that don't include underaged girls.

I'm sorta stuck here unless I go to grad school a couple hours north for a class a week since I'd do some online ones too since I have a relative I could stay with. My area is mostly retired people I live in. And again I didn't mean nailing her but just hanging out with her, being friendly going out doing things.

I sent her a FB message just asking her if we could hangout "as friends" sometime because I think she's a nice person and because I'm trying to make new friends since I moved. Anyways she read the message last night but didn't reply. I was off work today but work the rest of the week so I'll see her one of those days probably.

However she did not block me from FB. I guess if she was uneasy about me asking to hangout she would have deleted me from her friends list? I guess that's a good sign then.
